At long last, we have a new #BirdwatcherSession for you today.
~
@adirlc stopped by the studio with a quintet of stellar musicians, treating us to a lovely set of tunes, including the contemplative, Americana-tinged "Getting Home."
~
"This song began being written in my head on the long walk home through city streets as the sun was coming up, exhausted after a long night of bartending. It's about duality of trying to reach your full potential while trying to stay humble and remember "I'm not the only one here" - there are other people in my life... we are all in this together. It was really fun getting a chance to record it live with the band!" -Adir L.C.
@ryandugre 's second #BirdwatcherSession, a beautiful piece called "Bali," is out today. Full version in bio.
Here's what he has to say about this composition: "Bali" was inspired by the music of Indonesia, specifically the slower moving Balinese Gamelan pieces. Translating the sustained percussion phrases on to the guitar led me to a new tuning, and the main theme developed from there. The beauty of working with tunings this way is that you instantly become a novice; unable to recognize what you are playing, intuition and listening take over as guiding forces.
Hyped to present the latest #BirdwatcherSession featuring deconstructed trumpet player Steph Richards (@stephiesounds ), along with her quartet James Carney on prepared piano, Sam Minaie on bass and Andrew Munsey on drums. Here they perform "Brooklyn Machine," a churning machine-based ode to city life, inspired by Jack Kerouacâs 'Brooklyn Bridge Blues.'

New #BirdwatcherSession up now on our YouTube page. This is a special performance, featuring Andrew Lamb "channeling the spirits of his ancestors through his bass clarinet. A simple sonic prayer for these troubled times." With Tom Abbs on bass and Ryan Jewell on drums.
Garage-punk band Anamon intertwined their love of 70s rock and 60s psych on this tune, called âEmbroideredâ. Singer Ana Monaco explains: "Itâs a pretty literal song already. Me thinking I have a situation under control, and I can have my cake and eat it too, but itâs a mess and I gotta clean it up.â
We're excited to debut a bunch of new #BirdwatcherSessions in the weeks to come. First up is this gorgeous improvisation by J.R. Bohannon & Alexander Turnquist on 12-string acoustic guitars.

A self described "vortex of music," @dtreut  churns out a manic brand of unhinged psych-rock with this tune, "Whirlwind Woman".
