Biosummit's Bio Creation Station is a one-of-a-kind virtual gallery you won't want to miss. From imaginative creations to avant-garde exhibits like Jude Abu Zaineh's 'COLOUR & FLORA', this is your chance to see art from a new perspective. Colour & Flora reflects the natural ecology of food and flora between the regions of Upstate New York and Southern Ontario; two areas the artist frequents. Sampling the earth, indigenous and collected plant species, and leftover foods this ongoing series examines the constant evolution within an ever-shifting cultural and geographical landscape; the petri-dish environment makes visible the invisible by providing a medium of growth for the microbial and bacterial communities that naturally exist within food and our overall surroundings. This enclosed environment gives metaphorical and visual connections to the often ignored or erased narratives and the layered complexities of hybrid existences that many newcomer (human and nonhuman species) experience in their respective, evolving habitats. Segments from Colour & Flora are part of a forthcoming video-work installation at Museum London (Canada), and screening at Media City Film Festival in 2023. #biocreationstation #gcbs #communitybio #bioart #artgallery

Have you ever had a tour at a Community Bio Lab? No?! Here's your chance to virtually see Biotech Without Borders! Watch this tour of the lab in New York, USA. BwoB is a nonprofit community biolab serving the greater NYC area. We have low-cost lab memberships for those who need access to a lab to work on projects, host talks by scientists and bioartists, have hands-on classes and workshops open to the public, and support NYC STEM teachers and students. #communitybio #gcbs #globalbiosummit #biotechwithoutborders #labtour #virtualtour #tour

Biosummit's Bio Creation Station is a one-of-a-kind virtual gallery you won't want to miss. From imaginative creations to avant-garde exhibits like Mon Thi Han's 'FLUID INTEGRATED BUILDING SKIN | CONCEPTUAL IMAGES', this is your chance to see Design from a new perspective. By 2050, world population is projected to reach 9.8 billion. A review on densification of large cities, rapid deployment of air-conditioning technologies and urban heat island effects encourage a real need for innovative means of integrating ventilation and cooling in building design. The design research sets out to challenge conventional air-conditioning systems by investigating the viability of using fluid integrated building envelopes for environmental modulation. The design studies were inspired by the geometry and thermoregulation properties of the blood vascular systems, with variegated tubular dimensions and multi-layered distribution. #biocreationstation #gcbs #communitybio #bioart

Calling all bioart lovers! The Bio Creation Station at the Bio Summit is a must-see for anyone looking for inspiration. From funky and innovative projects to thought-provoking pieces like Eileen Ryan's 'CODEX', you'll be amazed by our global community's creations. CODEX is a project focused on the transcription and interpretation of beetle galleries into a speculative pictographic language. "My hypothesis is that I will uncover patterns that will lead me to interspecies communication awareness. What I have begun uncovering through a variety of translation strategies including AI, metagenomic coding, native science and myth making-- is an outside critique of humanity's role on Earth and the destructive similarities between beetle and man. The artworks are visualized with a naturalistic aesthetic with attention to how much of the art work will decompose and return to the ground over time." #biocreationstation #gcbs #communitybio #bioart #artgallery

Family, Bio Summit 6.0 is a wrap!!! It was an incredible journey with you all, and we are so grateful to each and every one of you for sharing so much of your energy, spirit, creativity, and energy. As we reflect back on our days together, and our unofficial theme of “making the invisible visible,” we hope you will take with you the words of LaDonna Bravebull, and stand up for something, and remember that together we can accomplish anything! None of this work would be possible without the incredible work of our entire global organizing team! And so much gratitude to our speakers, panelists, and workshoppers. We love you all so much!!!! If you would like to join our organizer team please send us a direct message! We will share other means of contributing to future bio summits soon. Until then, and In Solidarity, The Bio Summit 6.0 Organizing Team #CommunityBio #GlobalBioSummit @bestahmed @afrorithmfutures @windowonder @ehenaff @biobotanalytics @sovereign.science @sakimaxkwe @a_n_pearl @antecesorcomun @elgatoylacaja @beno_juarez @justicetoshibawalker @corinnetakara @ishymaria @mitmedialab @davidsunkong

We are thrilled to have Keshia Talking Waters De Freece Lawrence (@sakimaxkwe ) speaking at Bio Summit 6.0! Keshia is a Ramapough Lenape Munsee, Deer Clan; mother, activist, educator, and Indigenous researcher. Lawrence is contingent on ecological kinship being a huge factor in Indigenous reconciliation. Various aspects of sovereignty play a huge role in De Freece’s ongoing environmental research, as climate change has woven topics of Indigenous realities into mainstream conversations. Recipient of this year's "LaDonna Allard Bravebull “Science Activist” Award", Keshia addessed the concept of Sovereign Science (@sovereign.science ) and Ecological Kinship in her Bio Summit talks! #communitybio #gbcs #globalbiosummit #openscience #sovereignscience #keshiadefreecelawrence

We are thrilled to announce that Heidi Jalkh (@heidijalkh )will be speaking at Bio Summit 6.0! Heidi is an experimental designer, design educator, and researcher born in Medellín, Colombia, and currently based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is trained in industrial design, is a specialist in the logic and technique of form, holds a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Research, and leads the research group “Sistemas Materiales”. In her research she focuses on making significant connections between biology, design and engineering, aiming to achieve a higher level of integration between form, behavior and material. In 2020, Heidi was selected to be part of the Global Community Bio Fellows Program. During Bio Summit she'll be presenting the Bio Creation Station, a virtual gallery showcasing Bio Art and Bio Design works from our global community as well as moderating the panel 'Design and Biomaterials: Traces, Symbiosis and Collaboration'. #communitybio #gbcs #globalbiosummit #openscience #biodesign #biomaterials

We are thrilled to announce that Pablo González will be speaking at Bio Summit 6.0! Pablo González (@antecesorcomun ) is the founder of the multiplatform science outreach project El Gato y La Caja (@elgatoylacaja ). As he says, "the idea of 'El Gato... ' is more science and more design in more places and for more people." Pablo believes in Science as a verb, not as a noun. He sees it as a tool for large-scale social, economic, personal and political transformation, as well as the need to guide this tool to build the futures we want them to be and not others. At Bio Summit he will share his experiences working on large scale community science projects, and how that research shifts from the lab to society, and back again. We are so thrilled and honored to have Pablo and El Gato y La Caja at Bio Summit 6.0!!! #communitybio #gbcs #globalbiosummit #openscience #communityscience

Have you ever had a tour at a Community Bio Lab? No?! Here's your chance to virtually see BioLiloLab (@biolilolab ) in SĂŁo Paulo, Brazil! A culture medium is a preparation that contains all the substances necessary to intentionally grow microorganisms. Such practice reproduces in a Petri dish the conditions required by microorganisms' to live. In this sense, a culture medium lends itself to the description of BioLiloLab as a space that creates the necessary conditions for the development of research and experimentation in the intersection between art, design, and science. The artists and scientists in this space prototype with biomaterials, develop artwork with science, provide scientific communication and promotion, offer curatorship in bioart, workshops, and talks. #communitybio #gbcs #globalbiosummit #biolilolab #labtour #virtualtour #tour
