when billion o'clock began we had a doctrine never to release any official recordings as the project was a vision of constant flux - adding members and morphing sound for every performance. But rules are meant to be broken and in 2019 an online meeting with @solium_ records led to the release of a raw mixtape 'nyfk' a few days later. Our debut album of 2021 'The Grief Whole' was pieced together through lockdown from multitrack recordings, live jams and fragments gleamed from dusty samplers. It felt like a summary of everything that had gone before. A few years later came "The Grief Whole . . . DEEPER' - a remaster of the album with a second tape of remixes by various @solium_ / @light_item producers. This felt like a peer review of sorts: the moment billion expanded into a wider cosmos of noise. Those Solium Records / Light Item artists who remixed our music drew our aesthetic into new shapes and directions while somehow staying true to that billion essence - whatever that may be. We are thankful to these musicians who generously gave their time to build this powerful collaborative experience. Solium updated their techniques to produce cassettes with print on the entire surface. This beautiful meeting of many parts that still makes us proud. We think it deserves wider audience. And yep maybe we could do a bit more to promote it! There is no way a double album can be summed up in an instagram post but this remix by someone called Anobium gets right to the dark and blistered heart of the record. Crushing, dense. devastating.

A few years back we stumbled on a French DIY label called @solium_ ... sent them a message and within a day or two they were pressing the first billion o'clock mixtape - on leftover stock. NYFK was recorded completely live and chopped into tracks with no mixing. We recently took a listen and can confirm it's pure raw insanity. The start of a wild journey that's not finished yet!
