First cover illustration for @funfunfunicular mag is out now I spy, deep the dark wood, a two-headed magpie, scanning the area for predators, trinkets and shiny treasures. She stands on guard in her official uniform. Her long gown is stiff with starch and pressed earlier that morning at the regulation temperature. Her stare is hypnotic and the woods whine and whine. BIG NEWS! We’re building something BIG, goofy and special in Saskatchewan! Plastic Salad started as a funny made up phrase that made me laugh but hit home. Most people in SK don’t know what an illustrator is (that sounds like a made up job Jaymie?) and others still have no idea we have so many artists working in illustration in this province. NOW if you’re interested in illustration in SK there’s a place for you @plastic_salad Over the last year, we started a series of drink & draw events and launched an online community for illustrators working in Sask. We started a lil art vending machine filled with work by local Sask illustrators and found a cozy home for it with our friends @althausyxe in Saskatoon. We also started a monthly series of silly meetup events for SK illustrators, designers and animators in partnership with @hello_frankly and began hosting them at @dankspacestudio in Saskatoon.
