I keep trying to figure out what to say.
Thank you for all the sweet tributes and condolences. Biff was a special guy.
I stumbled upon this old, early composite headshot while trying to find something in his office. This is from our earliest days together, over 40 years ago, before we left San Diego and moved to Los Angeles. (What a cutie!)
We muddled our way through so many years, so many experiences. Loved our families, made so many amazing friends. Rescued a lot of great dogs. We listened to each other, talked and talked and talked. Sang songs, danced, hiked, drove, wandered... Played, laughed... Oh, how we laughed. We could have an adventure at any moment. Sometimes we chased them, picked a direction and drove. Sometimes we just happened upon something cool and enjoyed it.
We cried, too. And we fought. We didn’t always like each other, didn’t always get along, but we always loved each other.
The last two+ years were a roller-coaster of traumatic lows and stunning highs. It was amazing. And it was hard, on both of us. Cancer sucks.
He became unconscious the morning of February 10th. It was distressing to see someone so spirited, so full of life even at his weakest, suddenly so still. I was grateful when he passed peacefully at home the morning of February 12th, glad he didn’t linger in that unconscious stillness.
I didn’t realize immediately that now would be the hardest part for me. Sometimes it’s hard to breathe. Sometimes it physically hurts all over. So many tears. He was the center of my life.
I miss him so much. Don’t worry if I seem a little crazy at times while I figure out how to go forward. I’m so disoriented. Will take some time. But I will be okay. Biff taught me how strong I am.
R.I.P. Biff. My best friend. My husband. My longtime companion. Thanks for loving me.
