N. American Field season is here 🌲⛰️🚁
As our team heads into the field for another season of learning, problem-solving, and adventure, we want to wish every BGCer a safe and successful few months ahead.
We hope you challenge yourselves, sharpen your skills, learn from one another, and come home with stories worth telling. From rugged slopes to remote sites, your work makes a difference and we are proud of the passion and expertise you bring to the field every day.
Most importantly: stay safe out there.
🎥 Along for the ride: a field-day adventure produced and edited by BGCer Brendan O’Brien, featuring his colleague, Adam Deagle, as they travel by ground, water, and sky to install shape arrays and data loggers for remote slope monitoring.

For years, we have built strong relationships and supported complex projects across Nevada. Opening our Reno office is a natural next step in that journey.

On April 28, we recognize World Day for Safety and Health at Work, alongside Workers’ Memorial Day and the National Day of Mourning in Canada. Today, we pause to remember those who have lost their lives, been injured, or become ill due to workplace hazards.
At BGC, we are grateful that in our 35-year history, we have not lost a colleague to a workplace incident. We know this is not the reality for everyone in our industry, and our thoughts are with those whose lives have been changed by workplace injury, illness, or loss.
As we continue to grow and welcome new team members, this day is a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. Through mentorship, open communication, and looking out for one another, we can help ensure everyone feels safe, supported, and confident in their work.
Together, we remain committed to protecting the health and safety of our team.
Earth Day is a reminder that the work we do today helps shape tomorrow. Our latest Sustainability Report—published today— highlights how we support clients and partners in making decisions that consider sustainability and long-term impact, contributing to a more resilient future. 🌎

This past Sunday, over 40 Vancouver-based BGCers laced up and took on the @vancouversunrun —joining 57,000+ participants in Canada’s largest 10K race! 🏃♀️
We’re thrilled to share that BGC placed 3rd out of 134 engineering teams and 19th overall (out of 1,148 teams). Thank you to everyone who ran, cheered, and supported along the way. It’s proof that when we show up together, great things happen.

Tonight, BGCers from our Calgary office volunteered with the Home for Dinner program at Ronald McDonald House. We cooked, served guests, cleaned our dishes, met some dogs, ate our homemade food, visited the Magic Room, and laughed, and smiled, and practiced gratitude. Thank you to our amazing chefs/coaches Suzi and Tina, and to our social impact program, BGC Squared, for supporting employee volunteerism. We’ll be back!

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
It’s a moment to reflect on the systems, assumptions, and everyday choices that shape people’s experiences in ways we don’t always see. Progress is not just about intention, it’s about being willing to question, listen, and keep doing the work even when it’s uncomfortable.
Creating more equitable spaces takes consistency, accountability, and a shared commitment to doing better.

Today, on World Engineering Day, we celebrate the people behind the progress.
To our incredible team of engineers, thank you for the curiosity that drives you to ask better questions, the rigor you bring to complex applied earth science challenges, and the care you show for clients, communities, the environment, and each other.
Your work strengthens the systems society depends on every day. You help keep transportation networks safe and resilient. You support responsible resource development. You advance reliable and sustainable energy solutions. And you partner with communities to assess risk and prepare for what lies ahead.
The work is not always visible, but its impact is. Safer infrastructure. More resilient communities. Thoughtful, evidence-based solutions built to stand the test of time.
We are proud of the work you do to help change the world.
Happy World Engineering Day. 🌍
This Wednesday, we’re wearing pink! 💗
#PinkShirtDay is an opportunity for everyone to stand together against bullying. At BGC, we’re committed to building a workplace rooted in respect, inclusivity, and psychological safety. Today, we’re reflecting on how we can practice allyship in everyday moments like:
➡️Speaking up when something does not feel respectful
➡️Inviting different perspectives into conversations
➡️Checking in with team members
➡️Recognizing and celebrating others’ contributions
➡️Choosing curiosity over assumption
Let’s cultivate a community of kindness together.

Every year, we look forward to celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It’s a chance to spotlight the brilliant women of BGC and inspire the next generation of geoscientists and engineers.🔬🌍🌟
Last week, we were delighted to welcome @OperationMinerva back to our Calgary office, where our BGCers connected with grade 8 and 9 students, giving them a hands-on look at exciting career paths in applied earth sciences. From terrain-mapping missions and candy dam builds to thoughtful conversations about climate change, the day was filled with curiosity, creativity, and inspiration.
We’re honoured to support initiatives that empower future STEAM leaders—and deeply grateful for the incredible women and gender-diverse BGCers who continue to lead, innovate, and pave the way every day.

It’s time to drop down and #pushforbetter mental health outcomes. 💪
Once again, we’re excited to participate in the @CMHANational ’s Push-Up Challenge (@pushforbetter.ca )—a global movement that combines physical activity with mental health education, awareness, and fundraising.
Check out highlights from last year’s challenge, where our team powered through more than 80,000 push-ups from around the world (with no shortage of creative destinations 😉), to raise nearly $20,000, reflecting our shared commitment to supporting mental health at work, at home, and in our communities.
