Slowly crawling out of my hermit cave after a super busy start to winter full of moving (twice), starting a new job, teaching full time, and sneaking in a few precious days of snowboarding…. followed by the inevitable burnout.
Looking back at it I’m so incredibly stoked and grateful for the support needed to pull off developing and launching new courses, clinics, and events with Backcountry Ready and the UAC while juggling everything else.
2024 was full of a lot of trial and error, saying yes to just about everything, and seeing what stuck. I learned a ton, made plenty of mistakes, and realized that sometimes taking a step back is actually the path forward.
This year I’m prioritizing. I’m setting goals. I’m focusing my energy and honing in the elusive skill of knowing when to say yes and when to say no.
The classic phrase “you can’t fill from an empty cup” has never felt more true.
This year I want to feel strong, I want to feel healthy. I want to make good choices and be a dependable backcountry partner.
I want to spend time in new & uncomfortable landscapes and learn from those experiences. I want to keep exploring the realm of wilderness medicine / risk management to further educate myself so I can continue developing resources for our backcountry community.
I want to show up for my people (including myself) and have the energy to do so.
So here’s to going to bed early, eating right, and taking care of myself in 2025.. 🥳💤
Officially committed to a backcountry-focused winter ❄️
(Yup, we’re pass-less this year!)
Stoked to spend a season exploring the nooks and cranny’s of the Wasatch and taking time to invest in furthering my avalanche / risk management education too. HMU if you ever want to share a skin track 🤘🏽

Spent the last 8 days teaching down in the desert with @desertmountainmedicine . What a way to round out a full year of pursuing this dream of mine!
The lack of cell signal, inherently beautiful views, and fully immersive feel that comes with field courses always fill the cup in special ways. ❤️
Driggs seemed to love it too 🏜️

A couple of my favorite frames from last season that I never got around to posting. There’s nothing quite like a sunset drop in the high alpine 🌄🫶🏽
