Story time.
On a glorious October day, 8 years ago, friends and family came together for the sole purpose of making art.
I was a personal stylist and once in a while the inspiration to style a fantasy shoot would hit so hard I could barely function as a human until I saw it through. (Thank you ADHD hyperfixations!)
I was forever in awe that these chosen people would always reply with a hell yes! to my crazy ideas.
This Wonderland inspired forest tea party was born of a back porch visit with the September 2017 edition of
@voguemagazine and my dear friend
@pattihendersoncostumes .
With pieces from my collection and the playground that was WildWoodRose vintage (sigh, I still miss your glorious store!) we concocted a fantastical menagerie of colourful characters.
My talented photographer friend Paul Misseghers was as enthusiastic as the rest of us to scout locations on Churchill Drive and help bring my vision come to life.
Dan, my bf at the time hauled in his grandmother’s dining room table, half of my living-room was used,
@pjvintagewpg hung one of his chandeliers in a tree, I borrowed a wooden swing from my ex father-in-law, we all decorated with flowers from
@beyond_flowers , thrifted silverware, and desserts and prop cakes from
@pinkys_bakeshop .
No one made a dime from this shoot nor did we expect to. We each put in a tonne of effort and creative energy to be a part of something special that none of us could do alone. We came together out of trust in each other’s abilities, a love of fashion, and a yearning for a life that spends time in Wonderland.
On a glorious October day, 8 years ago, people I love came together for the sole purpose of making art.
