At Uplift, Nick Saban called consistency the definition of success. One championship, one exceptional performance — those make you a flash in the pan. Doing it again, under new pressure, with everyone gunning for you — that's the standard. Derrick Henry has 13,018 career rushing yards and five Pro Bowl selections. He's lived that standard. In a conversation moderated by Adam Grant, Saban and Henry traced how the relationship between a coach and a player becomes the architecture of a team's culture — and what separates a transactional leader from a transformational one. The research confirms it. BetterUp Labs data shows that belief and agency, not pressure, are the strongest predictors of sustained team performance. Adam Grant made the connection directly from the stage: process orientation is where motivation, agency, and optimism come from. What Saban called "the mountain" maps directly onto what leaders are navigating right now: the moment after a transformation initiative lands. That moment is a beginning, not a finish line. The question is whether your coaching culture treats it that way. Saban treated it this way. He said players didn't care what he knew until they knew that he cared. Derrick Henry confirmed it was true. Link in the bio to watch the full recording #Uplift2026 #BetterUp #CoachingCulture #AgentsOfChange

The reason overwork keeps getting reinforced? On longer days, performance often does improve. The system rewards it in the moment. What the system doesn't see: those same long days reduce sleep. Less sleep reduces resilience. And next-day performance quietly drops. Then the cycle starts again. Purdue researchers Kate Zipay and Allie Gabriel brought this framework to Uplift 2026 — and the finding that tends to land hardest is this one: the people most vulnerable to the pattern are high performers. The ones you can least afford to lose. The harder question isn't whether your organization offers recovery benefits. It's what signals your organization is actually sending — about urgency, availability, and what gets celebrated. The Working Well Framework gives leaders a practical way to audit those signals, with three specific places to start. Day 1 of Uplift 2026 is a wrap. ✨ Here's what stayed with us: Emotion isn't a liability in the age of AI. It's a competitive edge. (The neuroscience agrees.) Great teams aren't built on talent. They're built on belief, agency, and trust that compounds. The strongest organizations don't abandon their core under pressure. They return to it with clearer eyes. The trade-off between performance and well-being isn't natural. It's constructed — and it can be dismantled. And the leaders who understand what happens when AI dissolves hierarchy? They're the ones who define what comes next. Two days. World-class researchers, coaches, and executives. Conversations the industry needed to have. The keynote recording + reserach and frameworks are live on the Agents of Change Hub. Link in bio. 🔗 #Uplift2026 #BetterUp #HumanPerformance #Leadership #AgentsofChange

What makes people believe – and act? Just ask @pixar The best leaders don’t just communicate strategy, they tell stories that move people. That’s why we’re thrilled to bring Peter Sohn, Pixar Director and Creative Vice President, to the Uplift 2026 stage. Peter has a rare gift: he mines personal experience, memory, and vulnerability to shape films that resonate across generations. From The Good Dinosaur to Elemental, his work reminds us that authenticity isn’t a strategy, it’s the actual connective tissue between creator and audience. And the lesson isn’t just for filmmakers – it’s for anyone responsible for inspiring trust, alignment, and action. In a masterclass on his creative approach, followed by a conversation with Pixar’s Senior Vice President of Production Katherine Sarafian, they’ll unpack what it takes to build connection, whether you’re crafting a film or leading a team. 🎬 Pixar and the power of authentic storytelling 📍 Uplift 2026 Register at the link in our bio

The standard never lowers. Nick Saban built it. Derrick Henry rose to meet it — and never stopped. Henry is the NFL's active leader in rushing yards (13,018) and touchdowns (122). Seven 200-yard games. Five Pro Bowls. The most 100-yard performances among active players. Numbers that don't happen by accident. At Uplift, Saban and Henry take the stage together to talk about what elite performance actually looks like from both sides — the coach who sets the bar and the player who clears it, every time. What does it take to perform when everything is on the line? We'll find out April 15–16 in San Francisco. 🔗 Link in bio to register. #Uplift2026

Courage is widely admired, but few organizations know how to build it consistently, across teams and over time. At Uplift 2026, @brenebrown returns to lead three sessions. She'll partner with executives from Eaton, Lumen, and Unilever to show how the Center for Daring Leadership – backed by 20+ years of research and data from more than 150,000 leaders across 45 countries – helps build brave leaders and courageous cultures in practice, where trust, accountability, and resilience drive measurable business outcomes. She'll also lead a hands-on workshop for teams designed to build skills that can be applied immediately: 🔹Anticipatory thinking as a core leadership skill, including how leaders prepare for what's next even when the future is unclear 🔹How courage scales from individual capability to organizational culture And she'll moderate a fireside chat with author and executive coach Aiko Bethea @rare_coach . Drawing on insights from Bethea’s forthcoming book, Anchored, Aligned, Accountable, their conversation will explore what it truly takes to build cultures where people can speak candidly, collaborate effectively, and thrive. The need is urgent. 72% of leaders lack the optimism, agency, or confidence needed for this moment. The hardest leadership work happens in the spaces between strategy and execution, where courage, values, and accountability determine outcomes. Managers who develop these capabilities see teams perform 34% better and become 21% more innovative. Register at the link in our bio 🔥

Women belong at the front of the grid. @betterup is proud to expand our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team to include their entry in F1 Academy™ — Formula 1®'s all-female single-seater racing series. Every member of the Mercedes-AMG F1 Academy Team, including American driver @paytonwestcott , will now have full access to BetterUp's human transformation platform as they compete on the world stage. Westcott arrives with receipts: she recently became the first female outright winner in the Formula Trophy UAE, taking victory at the Dubai Autodrome. That's not potential. That's proof. Right now, women and girls represent just 10% of participation in motorsport across all levels. F1 Academy was built to change that — and the teams lining up behind these athletes matter. We've seen what this investment produces with the broader Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team: a 2.3x improvement in employee flourishing, and received positive feedback from BetterUp platform users, reporting greater resilience, sharper decision-making, and stronger well-being across the pressure of an F1 season. That same commitment now extends to the Mercedes-AMG Formula One Academy Team. As BetterUp CEO Alexi Robichaux put it: "The teams that invest in their people are the teams that win." That's true in the boardroom. It's true at 200 miles per hour. Congratulations to Payton Westcott and the full Mercedes-AMG F1 Academy Team. We're in your corner.

Every leader right now is holding impossible tensions. Empathy and results. Speed and care. Human judgment and machine intelligence. The hardest leadership skills require the hardest science. Dacher Keltner and Susan David bring neuroscience and clinical psychology to the paradoxes driving business outcomes at Uplift on April 15–16. Dacher Keltner is the UC Berkeley professor and scientific advisor behind @pixar 's Inside Out, Inside Out 2 (the highest-grossing film of 2024 at $1.68B), and Soul. In "Transformational leadership: Harnessing the power of awe in an AI-powered world,” Keltner draws on two decades of emotional science research to show how awe reshapes leadership. The neuroscience of compassion, the link between humility and influence, and why awe is a competitive advantage that builds trust and sustains performance under pressure. Susan David is the @harvard psychologist who coined emotional agility, named a "Management Idea of the Year" by @harvard_business_review and "essential to the future of work" by the World Economic Forum. Her research reveals why suppressing emotions and being controlled by them both lead to flawed decisions. In “Emotional agility: Leading through complexity without breaking," Susan offers a third path: acknowledging what you feel while consciously choosing how you respond. As AI handles routine work, navigating emotional complexity becomes your competitive edge. Register at the link in our bio!

Change doesn’t wait. Bold leaders don’t either.
