Late 2025. Yangshuo, China. We got a call from MAD Architects about a project called “Super Star” – a burnable installation for the AURUA Sugar House New Year’s ritual. 🔥
And here’s the thing: it had to be built for FIRE.
Complex geometry. 12 minutes of controlled burning. Almost no time for a normal engineering workflow.
We jumped straight from concept to fabrication‑ready models and construction drawings. No buffer. No room for error.
The team obsessed over every detail so nothing got lost in translation – literally and technically:
• How to name and tag every single component?
• How to guarantee on‑site assembly precision?
• How to make sure Chinese fabricators and French engineers understood each other perfectly?
On Dec 31, 2025, “Super Star” burned on the Li River banks. It worked.
But the best part? The morning after, floral artist Alfie Lin covered the burned steel in flowers, moss, autumn fruits – turning ashes into new life. Fire first, then bloom. 🌸
That‘s the kind of project we live for.

This 26-meter diameter steel dome is the centerpiece of a community landscape, translating the lunar cycle into architectural form.
Our bespoke process ensured this visionary concept was not only buildable and safe but also efficient and elegant—from concept geometry to final fabrication model.

“Vault of Heaven” was presented in the China Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale as a part of COEXIST exhibition curated by Ma Yansong. Installation design was led by Pills Architects and engineered by @bespoke_creative.engineering . The installation is composed of three interrelated structural layers that interact dynamically, with rotating top and bottom elements. The system combines a lightweight framing of aluminum plates and profiles assembled as modular units with a series of concentric cable networks that both support the suspended elements within the Vault and stabilize the overall structure.
From the earliest design stages, Karamba3D played a key role by providing precise structural weight estimations, validating structural schemes, and supporting close collaboration between the artist and the fabrication team. This integrated workflow enabled rapid, reliable analyses, ensuring the design was structurally sound, feasible, and optimized for fabrication and installation.

A Fresh Take on an Existing Building: AnKoRau Lab0 Center
In collaboration with @roarcrenew , we completed the @ankorau0 Lab0 center project, located on the third and fourth floors of Building 10, Columbia Circle, Shanghai.
➊ We introduced a new mezzanine structure to the existing building, unlocking fresh possibilities for spatial use.
➋ A central staircase running from the third floor to the roof serves as the visual anchor of the space—connecting the third and fourth floors along a visual axis. The structure remains fully exposed, intentionally unobscured, with each joint and component carefully refined to align structural logic with the brand’s distinctive character.
➌ At the top, a glass box extends toward the fifth-floor rooftop garden, flooding the interior with natural light through its transparent envelope.

Commissioned by the Taipei Biennial and TFAM, the pneumatic installation Metanoia draws inspiration from the Spomeniks—otherworldly concrete monuments built across former Yugoslavia (1945–1990). These monuments had the purpose to unify a nation fractured by wars, through utopian structures that defied gravity and ascended upwards – embodying a kind of yearning.
The Stone Flower Spomenik in Jasenovac concentration camp - a remnant of both the trauma of World War II and of the collapse of the Yugoslav utopia is given a second life in Bašić’s installation. In Metanoia the flower is reimagined as the kind of breathing machine – animating the glass vessels that rhythmically inhale and exhale through race-car manifolds. At the structure’s center, a copper heart blooms, revealing a delicate glass core filled with breath and dust while its surrounding rods invoke the rays of passion and transformation in mystical depictions of the Sacred Heart.
Charged by the artist’s childhood experiences of violence and brutality during the collapse of her native Yugoslavia, Metanoia meditates on the yearning for unity that lies deep within the human condition — reflecting on both its world-building power as well as its shadow.

Last Saturday, we joined @ankorau0 for the launch of their bold new space—another bespoke collaboration with @roarcrenew Architects!
**Our mission:**
1️⃣ Insert a **new mezzanine** into the existing structure
2️⃣ Design a **dramatic 4-story staircase** as the spine of the space
3️⃣ Engineer key elements like the **rooftop glass entrance** + outdoor canopy
**The challenge?**
This wasn’t just a renovation—it was *grafting* a fresh structural system into an old shell. Through relentless iteration with the design team, we transformed their vision into a **functional yet poetic** reality.
Every project with @RoarcRenew feels like a dialogue between imagination and engineering. And working with passionate brands like AnKoRau? Pure joy.
