The County, Episode 4 - “The Art of a Barn”
Taking on a century-old barn is not your average interior design project. The County is rich with so many unique out buildings like this and SKDS really wants to take on unique projects. We created a totally one of a kind, 3 season, multi-use entertaining space for @oliviacolacci that is warm, inviting and art forward. I love how this project turned out! It’s a dream. 🤍

New episode of ‘The County’ tonight at 8pm on HGTV!
Episode 4 “The Art of a Barn”.
The SKDS team is given the green light to transform Olivia’s (@twentysevenpec ) century-old barn into a creative, multi-use entertaining space. Not all of us are as excited as Sarah to tackle a barn but the result is jaw dropping and definitely unique.
Hope you love it!

Getting ready for tomorrow’s workshop with @countyarts !
We’ll be diving into the beautiful craft of broom making together — participants will get to make their very own turkey wing and hawk tail whisks. Can’t wait to see what everyone creates!
There may still be snow on the ground and in the forecast but it is officially spring and we’re starting to plan out our broom corn patches as well as a few other craft-related crops for this year.
These are the seeds from all the largest plants from last year’s harvest. Is this the best way to remove the seeds? Absolutely not but I lost my curry comb and didn’t get a chance to make a seed scraper last year so removing them by hand will do for now.
Now we wait for warmer days 🌱🧹
Stitching sweepers with the door open, watching the storm roll in. The studio is slowly coming out of hibernation with the warmer temperatures.
We’re open by appointment in March and April. Please reach out if you’d like to visit.
Happy Holidays 🤍
Grateful for the support this year and looking forward to some time with family and friends.
Wishing you joy, health, and good things in 2026 — see you soon! 🧹

🧹 Meet Makers: Besom — the broom legends of Prince Edward County @besompec
If you think a broom is just a broom… prepare to have your mind pleasantly swept.
Eve and Chris Harvey of Besom make hand-crafted brooms and brushes that are so gorgeous you’ll be tempted to clean just to show them off. They pair traditional broom-making with timeless design, using locally sourced wood from windfallen branches — meaning every broom has a good backstory and zero guilt.
These are not your big-box brooms.
These are “display in your entranceway because wow” brooms.
These are “if someone borrows it they’re never invited back” brooms.
🧹✨ Functional + beautiful + sustainable = the broom glow-up we didn’t know we needed.
