Makers! Artists! Interested in being part of Berwick Open Studios, but don’t have a studio to open? Apply for a Quayside Artisan Hut instead!
These wonderful additions to the quayside are run by Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Council, who have kindly given @berwickopenstudios use of them during both Open Studios weekends. 26-27 Sept & 3-4 Oct 2026.
Perfect for those artists & makers who live outside the geographical criteria (within 10 miles), or those who don’t have a suitable studio to open up. Further info on the huts can be found in the Application Guide.
If you would like to secure a hut as an alternative venue during the Open Studios please apply to Berwick Open Studios, and use the relevant section of the form.
You will not need to pay for the hire of the hut in addition to your application fee.

The Quayside Artisan Huts are for local makers and creators to have a low-cost outlet for whatever it is they make or create. They are available on a regular or ad hoc basis and are for hire on Wednesday and Saturdays in line with Berwick’s market days. We are inviting artists, makers, galleries, craftspeople, groups, schools, creative businesses, and cultural hubs from Berwick-upon-Tweed, Tweedmouth & Spittal to be part of this exciting celebration of creativity.
🎨Applications are open to artists working across all mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, drawing, glass, ceramics and more!
The Berwick Open Studios 2026 will run over two weekends; 26-27 September and 3-4 October 2026.🎨
Artists’ studios, galleries and pop-up spaces will open their doors, offering visitors a rare chance to catch a glimpse into the working world of artists and designer-makers.

Dates to be aware of coming up!
In person Q&A session: Tuesday 28th April at Jackal, Hide Hill. 5.30pm-7.30pm. The session will be a chance for artists, creatives and gallerists to come along and ask our Project Manager, Abigail, questions about how to be part of this new event. There will be a presentation at 6pm introducing the event, and how to apply, then a chance to ask questions. Afterwards, Abigail will stick around to answer any further questions 1 to 1.
If you’re unable to attend this session in person, there will also be an online video call on Tuesday 5th May at 11am-12.30pm with Abigail. Please comment/message/email to request an invite to this. If you have any access requirements, please let us know.
Open Studios Application Process goes LIVE on Thursday 30th April - we will send an email out with all the info on applying via the Create Berwick mailing list & post on social media too
The application DEADLINE is Friday 12th June
Open Studios Event Dates are: 26th - 27th September & 3rd - 4th October. Two weekends in a row. You do not have to take part in both weekends.

Building an exciting new event in Berwick where creatives open their studios, venues, & galleries to the public. Supported by @CreateBerwick
The project will coordinate activities with multiple selling galleries, studio groups and individual artists and makers in Berwick to deliver an event with a high-quality marketing campaign promoting it. The aim is to test the potential for an annual event and support collaborative work which will result in increased sales, visibility and network development.
The date for 2026 has not yet been set, although it’s looking likely to be in Autumn; but we’d like to hear from you!
