Every month a year I released a track from my new album “TILT” inspired by the seasons and the cycle of the year. I wrote each track during the season it was inspired by, weaving in field recordings from around where I live.
First release:
Spring ‘Something New’ for April.
Whilst the lyrics are all about spring and new life the arrangement is entirely inspired by ‘orc pop’, the sonic world of the pop orchestras of the 1960s and 1970s. As a 19 year old feeling lost and not knowing whether I wanted to continue playing the viola, I would listen to Morricone, Mancini, Bacharach, Herb Alpert & the TJB, riding on the top deck beside Hyde Park wearibg tinted yellow shades. Unabashed & gloriously romantic, emotional and nostalgic and always filling me with warm feelings. ☺️
