Calling all knitters, crocheters, sewers, felters, and fiber artists of every kind! Berkeley Public Library is looking for our very own fiber mascot; and we would love to have you create it. We're not after polished or perfect. We want weird, wonderful, and very Berkeley. You can stuff it, stitch it, glue a googly eye on it. If it has fiber in it and personality to spare, we want to see it. • Submissions open: June 1–30. Just bring your mascot to any of our locations during this period. • Size: 7–12 inches tall • All eligible entries receive a participation gift package • One mascot becomes the Berkeley Public Library social mascot Open to all ages. Where Music Meets Imagination is a family-friendly benefit concert featuring Berkeley’s beloved The Story Time Band, presented by @bplibfoundation in support of our local public libraries. "Cartooning Against Silence: Futile Prayers from an Undocumented Heart", curated by Oakland native and UC Berkeley Assistant Dean, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Dr. Alberto Ledesma. "Cartooning Against Silence: Futile Prayers from an Undocumented Heart" will run from May until the end of June. Dr. Ledesma shares with us drawings, sketches, illustrations and, prose that express the immigrant experience and trauma we carry. Join us for the opening reception on Tuesday, May 12 from 4:00-6:30 pm, with a brief curator talk by Alberto Ledesma on the 5th floor, Central Library. On Tuesday, June 2 we will hosting an artist and author talk with Q&A from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Mystery Room on the 2nd floor.
