Take a look at this National Convention Center Phase II project submission for the 2026 YII Awards. When nearly 60 parties work from separate files, traceability breaks before schedules do. That was the risk on this USD 4.9 billion public construction project in Beijing. The team replaced point-to-point coordination with one governed ProjectWise environment for documents and BIM workflows, cutting repetitive work by 25% and improving coordination efficiency by 40%. We’re excited to see this submission for the 2026 YII Awards about a major metro project in Istanbul. 🚧 The Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy Metro Project required a tunnel support system for shallow metro stations in densely populated urban areas. During the initial construction phases at Dudullu station, conventional tunneling methods produced 97 mm of in-situ settlement against a 75 mm limit. The project team used Bentley’s PLAXIS 3D to calibrate the failing condition first, then compare CPAS alternatives on a validated basis. Validated modeling enabled them to move from uncertainty to an approvable decision, to reduce risks and improve delivery. Did you work on an outstanding infrastructure project? In 2010, workers rebuilding the World Trade Center in New York City hit something unexpected underground: the hull of an 18th-century sailboat, or sloop, scuttled as landfill to extend Manhattan. ⛵ Historians were thrilled; engineers were less so. "Sometimes design has to proceed without the required high-quality subsurface data, and we make refinements and pivots as we go along,” Rizwan Baig, chief engineer of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, said this month during the second annual Transforming Infrastructure Performance (TIP) NYC Summit. The stakes are enormous: The New York metro expects $100 billion in infrastructure work over the next decade, with the Port Authority alone managing a $45 billion budget. Appropriately, the dominant theme at the summit was connected data—making sure information flows cleanly from planning through operations, so that design, project financing, construction, asset management, and #AI all draw on the same source of truth. "A lot of states and local governments don't even know what infrastructure exists in the first place," said Rory Linehan, Bentley's director for infrastructure policy advancement and a summit organizer. For the sixth straight year, we were honored to support the Philadelphia Eagles All Abilities STEM Clinic—and this year’s event was buzzing with energy! On April 8, Lincoln Financial Field was transformed into a playground of innovation for over 75 participants and their families. They programmed robots, explored the world with Cesium's geospatial tech, saw 3D printing in action, and even met some dinosaurs, thanks to the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University. A special highlight was once again featuring Madden Orlovsky’s artwork in the All Abilities Coloring Book. Madden is an inspiring autistic teen, talented artist and son of NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky. Crews from DPR Construction, one of the country's top technical builders, are working around the clock on what is currently the world's largest data center #construction site. Its warehouse-like buildings—each the size of several football fields—will house a total of 400,000 NVIDIA chips and draw electricity from a dedicated 1.2-gigawatt natural-gas power plant. DPR is overseeing $10 million worth of work installed on a typical day. The request from Crusoe, the AI #data center operator, is simple: Safely deliver quality at high speed. Every day of schedule slippage can result in millions of dollars in lost economic value for the project. Our software and solutions are there to help! 👀 Our SYNCHRO software serves as the backbone of DPR’s visual planning at Abilene; the iTwin platform holds every model for the project, keeps them geospatially located, and makes them accessible to everyone on the team. Beyond the data center itself, DPR is building a new approach to construction in Abilene, and Bentley Systems is also part of it.
