A few months ago, we embarked on a creative journey in Leimert Park with the visionary Jenn Nkiru and Maeva Tenneroni to shoot a music video for Kamasi Washington. The atmosphere was electric, filled with an incredible team of talented, passionate individuals, all contributing to a shared artistic vision. “It took us 6 hours to rehearse the scene in the camp, with 300 extras, the stunts, the unbearable heat and the steadicam choreography going from the ground to the crane- it was the hardest and most challenging scene in the film. I wanted the viewer to feel overwhelmed by this revolution. We added some walls and fences in post to extend the claustrophobic feeling, the sensation that the only way out is up.
