Gnarly looking big pit. When it all came good after some big bait ups. In the house of a particular Big old dink. A once a year fish. A once a year chance. Broken clocks are right twice a day…….
29ish mirror and a simple February Flicked out in the edge of your not on the spot your not on job kinda thing. Nicks huge tent. Teas, Bert and big carp laughs. Always on job mush, second to know one jobbing.
February old school. Always a needle in the haystack finding these. 16-20 left in a stock of 150 or so in 100 acres. Best one of the year so far, was rather tricky playing him in from 200 yards with all the rowers from the river taking up refuge on the pit, as the Thames is in full flow.
Couple that with the sailors. The rod was plunged deep for 20 minutes reeling the old cod back in. A happy day in Surrey.
By far the furthest capture of the year at that point.
This one was captured by shear chance. From the pub the evening before I found I had a nearly empty packet of kp nuts. Scrambling through the bag I found two half’s. More than enough for a small discreet hook bait, my brain ticked into place…. As the early morning display was over 450 yards away I thought nothing of putting the Toslon through its paces and dispatching the two half baits over the zone.
Exactly 5 minutes after it was placed in the general area the take came. Wallop, another long range victim was in the net. #bigstrokenojoke
