Holy shit! I can’t believe @truffle.troll and I found a freaking CAULIFLOWER MUSHROOM at low elevation in a new growth forest. This thing is a unicorn among mushrooms, especially where we found it.
Definitely one of the cutest porcini I’ve found yet! Super fresh, no bugs 😂 and it’s shaped like a Pixar mom.

This is an unusually large cluster of elm oyster mushroms (also known as shimeji mushrooms) I photographed on monday while foraging with @savorthewildtours , @angelastaehle , and @ang.makes.things.These are choice edible mushrooms with a strong umami flavor and slightly bitter aftertaste.
🍄This mushroom might look like it came out of a Mario game, but eating it won’t give you extra lives, quite the opposite l! This is mushroom is the Amanita muscaria - a deadly poisonous (and psychoactive) mushroom that is native to the PNW. It’s easily recognized by its red cap and white spots.
Fun facts: A. muscaria contains a mind-altering chemical called muscarine. Reindeer LOVE eating them to get high. Some say this is the origin story for Santa (round red and white dude flying reindeer high in the sky).
