Gorge Waterfalls 100k • death by a thousand rocks
always special to race on the trails i grew up hiking. this one had a whole lotta pain cave, a real good time with real good people and a little bit of everything else…waterfalls you whip past, veins and through…pickle juice fountains…poison oak that lingers for a week…quad killing rollers, life saving cold water creeks, pink trail sabers, high fives from Yassine at mile 59, some rain, some sun, mash potatoes, epic views, and a crew of family at the finish line wearing crazy masks. This was a fun one but so so hard. Grateful for the opportunity. Glad I toed the line and stoked a crossed it to finish.

all the pretext.js hype immediately made me think of crown shyness. so i built* this little tool to simulate tree canopies. you can choose the number of trees, decide just how shy they are, and increase the wind speed (your cursor) but no matter how powerful you make the wind blow these little shy sapling will not touch
the animation fun quickly wore off though as i became more interested in making little puzzles out of the text blocks. so naturally i had to render them real, too. 3rd image is my favorite
if you want to play i’ll send you the link
and mad respect to all those who can actually code things — i *vibe coded this. stuff like this was never possible for me before and just increases my admiration for you engineering wizards <3
