After today, I am beginning the process of migrating my social media to Bluesky. I have been avoiding Insta for awhile now, for a variety of reasons. Everyone has their breaking point. Mine was today. I don't want to live in an information space dictated and governed by these buffoons. I love the community here but the reality is that technology choices really do matter. Artists (of all people!) should understand that form shapes content, and that micro-decisions really do affect big-picture outcomes. Alternatives to this political nightmare really do exist, we just have to stand up and use them. Try it out, and DM me up if you create an account. Maybe just park your username? :)
RIP Vera Klement. I had the good fortune to study with her at the University of Chicago just before she retired. She was perhaps the first serious artist I had ever encountered. I sat at her feet and quizzed her about the old days and the New York School. She was funny, kind, irascible, and hard on me in all the ways that I needed. Thanks, Vera. #veraklement
