I’m excited to announce that LAYER was recognised for three projects at this year’s @iFdesign Awards.
The ONE tripod, designed by LAYER with @ManfrottoImagineMore , was awarded for its unified approach to performance, bringing photo and video into a single, intuitive system. Selected from over 10,000 entries, it was the only tripod recognised this year, which makes it particularly meaningful.
We also saw two wins with MAZZU, for the MAZZU Mattress and MAZZU Camping Mattress. Both these mattresses are built around a modular, foam-free spring system designed for longevity, repairability and comfort across very different contexts.

This month saw the launch of SilkiPro Straight, a next-generation wet-to-dry straightener designed by @LAYER_design with the @SharkBeauty team.
Part of an ongoing design language programme, the project brings together airflow and ceramic heat technology in a single, streamlined tool. An inclusive comb system supports different hair types, while the sculpted form and refined material finishes shift straightening towards a more controlled, considered experience.
SilkiPro reflects the studio’s approach to creating beauty tools that are intuitive to use and designed to be desirable, not hidden away in a drawer.

Recently, we revealed ONE, a new tripod system designed and engineered by @LAYER_design with @ManfrottoImagineMore .
The ambition was to strip back the complexity of traditional tripods and create something that feels intuitive in use, where multiple adjustments come together in a single, fluid movement so creators can stay focused on the moment rather than the mechanics.
These watercolour sketches capture some of that early thinking and explore how the system deploys, moves and adapts. The sketches are an important part of the process at LAYER, helping to visualise how a product looks, works and feels.

I’m constantly impressed and in awe of the talent across the team @layer_design . As designers and engineers - but also more broadly as creatives. This is an embroidered piece I was gifted at the end of last year celebrating our 10 years as a studio by super talented Issey in our team, who is also a textile artist. Crafted and thoughtful, and it took me aback a little bit too.
Who will you meet in Stockholm?
Excitement mounts as the design world braves sub-zero temperatures and harsh coastal winds to gather in one of the northern capitals to discuss the future of product design. Last year, we had the pleasure of talking to British designer @benjaminhubert and trying out his Calma Lounge, designed for @andreuworld
Benjamin wanted to create an armchair that is extra soft and comfortable to sit in. And man, you really sink into this one, with a felling of being sheltered by the embracing armrests.
A small cord has been incorporated into the seat that triggers a tilt mechanism. Pulling the cord locks the chair in the desired tilt position.
- It's a simple mechanism that isn't technical. We don't really want technical products in our home environment. We want to surround ourselves with people-friendly products, says Benjamin Hubert.

As part of the @LAYER_design 10-year anniversary in 2025, we opened the doors to 101010 – a landmark exhibition at the iconic @10CorsoComo during Milan Design Week.
The show welcomed more than 50,000 visitors throughout the week, offering a rare glimpse into the world of LAYER – from watercolour sketches and conceptual models to a retrospective of past projects. At its heart was the 101010 collection: six new prototypes exploring how design can respond to urgent global challenges.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Milan to celebrate this milestone! I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings for the studio!
One of the most meaningful milestones for myself and the studio in 2025 was celebrating 10 years of @LAYER_design with 101010 – a collection of six design projects launched during Milan Design Week at the iconic @10CorsoComo .
Each project explored how design can respond to urgent global challenges, from climate adaptation to biodiversity loss and food security. We partnered with some of our most valued collaborators – @RAEBURN_design , @AndreuWorld , @MuutoDesign , @Orrefors , @MDFitalia_official and @KvadratTextiles – to develop thought-provoking prototypes that reflect the values driving LAYER into its next decade.
Thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition – over 50,000 of you – and to the teams that brought it to life.
In 2025, we continued to build out our branding work at @LAYER_design – developing strategic, design-led identities that tell bold stories and connect deeply with users.
We partnered with many emerging and established brands including @SanneOfficial to create a full identity for their expressive, future-focused fashion brand – from a confident wordmark and sculptural seal to a vibrant palette and flexible system that adapts across platforms.
We also built the brand system for @ZimaDental , a wellness-tech start-up redefining oral appliance care at home. Inspired by ultrasonic cavitation, the crafted identity blends clinical precision with everyday desirability – brought to life through packaging, digital, and environmental assets.
