African Parks made the astoundingly bold move of buying out a bankrupt white rhino farm in South Africa to rescue two thousand of these endangered giants. Now they’re busy translocating them across parks and reserves in Africa, often to places which haven’t seen rhinos for generations. The logistical challenges are immense. This is one of the boldest rewilding initiatives in Africa, ever. In the latest episode of Rewilding the World I talk with African Parks’ Don Jooste who is in charge of it. America’s apex predator is the cougar, or mountain lion. They’re thriving in the West, but were wiped out two centuries ago in the East, where talk of restoring them has simmered for decades. After spending time in New England during the summer of 2021 I became obsessed with this. Working with Mighty Earth and a growing coalition of other groups, I am proud to be part of a growing campaign to reintroduce ‘catamounts’, as New Englanders called them. Join me in conversation with Renee Seacor from the Bring Catamounts Home campaign, and cougars expert from Panthera, Emily Carrollo. Available now wherever you get your podcasts.

Happy Earth Day! The Port Regis Environmental Summit was a fascinating and inspiring response to questions from our young pupils to our incredible speakers! Zac, Environmentalist, @zacgoldsmithofficial Sophia, fundraiser for @theiris_project Peter, climate educationalist from @betterplaneteducation Jade, founder of @conservationcollectiveorg Hashem, founder of @ahbstra For an hour, the panelists answered intelligent and heartwarming questions from children aged 5–13 about the future of our planet. Questions ranged from “Is AI good for the environment?” and “What has been the biggest achievement in wildlife conservation?” to memorable animal encounters and the biggest challenges in saving the planet. All donations made in the next 48 hours to The Iris Project will be doubled through the amazing Earth Raise campaign by @biggiveorg Double the donations, double the difference. Donate to The Iris Project using the link in our bio. A huge thank you to all the amazing panelists! #ZacGoldsmith #IrisProject #ConservationCollective #Ahbstra #BetterPlanetEducation

We are now live! ⏰ From today, all donations to @conservationcollectiveorg will be matched via biggive Earth Raise. Head over to the link in bio today until 29th April to support CC’s work protecting and restoring nature at the grassroots. Since 2020, Conservation Collective has launched, supported, and grown 20+ locally rooted Foundations, each mobilising resources to support effective, frontline nature restoration initiatives. Together we’ve raised over £22 million across our global network, supporting 700+ projects across the UK, Mediterranean, Caribbean and Indian Ocean. Conservation Collective’s core approach is at the heart of this progress: bringing in new donors, sharing best practices, and amplifying impact across the network. Sadly, unrestricted core funding is among the hardest to secure—yet it’s what makes everything else possible. That’s why we’re taking part in Earth Raise 2026 to help us maintain the resilience our work demands. Join CC’s mission to scale global nature philanthropy during Earth Raise via the @conservationcollectiveorg link in bio.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Wild Tolworth with @citizenzoo this Earth Day - one of a growing number of volunteer-managed rewilding sites in London. It’s heaven here!

The massacre of migrating birds each spring and autumn around the Mediterranean is ecocide. It’s done mostly for fun, status and selfies; sometimes for delicacies. Nightingales and passerines of all kinds, turtle doves, kestrels, hawks, raptors and even storks and flamingos are gunned down or lured and trapped with glued branches and cruel snares and traps of all kinds. One organisation, the Committee Against Bird Slaughter or CABS, is fighting this atrocity all over the Med. Join me in conversation with Lloyd Scott on the latest episode of Rewilding the World. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. 🎥 Committee Against Bird Slaughter @cabs_reports

I was lucky enough to visit Chad, in Africa’s Sahel region. I went as a guest of an amazing rewilding charity named African Parks which is transforming some of Africa’s most precious places. #Rewilding #conservation #rewildingtheworld #naturerestoration #africanparks
