âThe bar is loaded â - @benchqueen
The bar is loadedâŠ
Breathe.
Breathe,
and remember your cues.
Donâtâ
donât look at the lights.
Theyâll blind you,
theyâll pull you away from the moment.
Focus.
On your breath.
On the stillness between heartbeats.
Remember your cues.
Itâs just like training.
Same grip. Same tension. Same fight.
Only nowâ
itâs lights, camera, action.
But still,
remember your cues.
Oh God,
I hope Iâve got nice refs.
(Letâs be realâ
weâve all been there.)
Youâve done the work.
Youâve earned this moment.
Itâs your time.
Remember your cues.
That voiceâ
that familiar voiceâ
the one that keeps me calm,
itâs still there.
Itâs always there.
Same process as before.
Same fire.
Same drive.
Remember your cues.
Dadâ
you gave me the strength.
Mummaâ
help me lift this bar.
I am strong.
I am powerful.
I am here.
The bar is loaded.
Breathe.
Lift.

Turns out dropping weight doesnât mean dropping kilos on the bar đ
New bodyweight: 68.6kg â
New category: Under 72kg â
New PB: 115kg bench â
At the Aussie Para Powerlifting Champs, no less! đŠđșđïžââïž
This lift meant a lot. Not just because itâs the heaviest Iâve ever hit in comp, but because it came after a fair bit of hard yakka and getting leaner without losing strength.
Big thanks to everyone in my corner. The grindâs real, but so is the feels when it all comes together on the platform!

When I retired from wheelchair racing, I never really lost the bug for competitive sport, it was always there, I guess just waiting for me to find a place for it again when I was ready.
They say âwhen you know, you knowâ. So when I found myself on a para bench âlifting heavy thingsâ, I knew Iâd found my place in competitive sport again. đĄ
The 2025 Para Powerlifting National Championships held on the Gold Coast yesterday was nothing short of EPIC!
I was pretty nervous in the lead up but once I got in the warm up room it was GAME ON!
By the end of day Iâd hit a 10kg competition PB, even after losing a few kgs.
A massive congratulations and thank you to the many people who worked to make today the incredible event it was. All the team from @ausparalympics@simonbergner_strengthcoach and @courtney_nspcentre .
Lastly, but most importantly, my coach @pushing_through_leighskinner , thank you for all your hard work and dedication in getting me in fighting shape for this đ„
