New in FORBES! The Maxine Shaw Effect has been in the works for a while and we are so excited and proud to see it finally come to life! Thank you @Forbes for the support. For years, we knew anecdotally that the character of Maxine Shaw from ‘Living Single’ had a meaningful impact on real people. Everyone from Stacey Abrams to Ayanna Pressley to lawyers, teachers, judges, and others have told our co-founder @ErikaAlexanderTheGreat that they went to law school or college or became a leader because of her character.  This anecdotal evidence was striking, but we decided to make it even more powerful by backing it up with data. We partnered with the show’s creator @TheYvetteLeeBowser and @missrepresentation and commissioned a data-driven research study to prove the impact of Maxine Shaw and to prove that “Representation Matters.” Then we thought, “How do we use this compelling data to make a lasting impact?” So we partnered again with @TheYvetteLeeBowser , and also with the incredibly talented curriculum designer extraordinaire @EricaBuddington and her company @LangstonLeague , and we developed an innovative curriculum for middle school and high school students with best-in-class pedagogy, focused on teaching leadership and communication skills, instilling self-confidence and self-empowerment, and providing critical thinking activities about potential career pathways. In short, we are “Building Leaders of Tomorrow.” With this curriculum, Color Farm is empowering and igniting community groups by using pop culture and mainstream storytelling to make education more accessible and engaging, reaching young learners at a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to break through all of the noise in young peoples’ lives. We’re kicking off our first two partnerships to help bring the curriculum to students, teachers and parents across the country. We’re proud to be partnered with @Microsoft and @ReconstructionUS . To learn more about ‘The Maxine Shaw Effect’ and how you can get involved with the curriculum, please visit MaxineShawEffect.com! Together, Let’s Build the Leaders of Tomorrow! #MaxineShawEffect #BuildingLeadersOfTomorrow #RepresentationMatters

My favorite role in life is Uncle Ben. I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew who are all now officially teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 17. They’re all incredible and I have extremely special and unique bonds with each of them. On Sunday Oct. 15th, my newest nephew was born and he has the cutest dimple you’ve ever seen. Welcome to the world Aiden Daniel Arnon. Daniel in memory of my father, Dan Arnon, who passed away exactly 22 years ago today, on Oct. 18, 2001. He and my mom would be beaming with pride and happiness to see Aiden and his dimple!

I lost my mom on Sunday. I am heartbroken. I miss her immensely. My mom was my hero. She was a warrior in every sense of the word. No one in the world has had more impact on who I am today than my mom. She was my biggest fan, always. I could always count on her to love me, to listen to me, to hug me, to support me. Ever since I was little she has had a magnetic pull on my heart. Since I can remember, the most important thing to me has always been to make my mom proud of me. My mom battled multiple bouts of cancer and other illnesses for well over 15 years. In January, she had another medical crisis and we knew this time it was very serious. Then we received word that it was end stage. Seven weeks ago I went to live and work from my mom’s house in White Plains, New York, thinking I’d be there for a couple of days and then I’d return to visiting back and forth from NYC. But I just could not get myself to leave her side. I stayed there for the past 7 weeks. I am so grateful for the moments we shared during her entire life but particularly during the past couple of months. We took not a single second of time for granted. Mom - you will always be my North Star. I will treasure your memory and love you always. Please read my mom’s obituary so you can see what a wonderful person she was: /stories/sara-miller-arnon
