Every winter on the northern beaches (where I live) a rare combination occurs where the sun casts a silhouette on our northern headlands, creating a black background for the dawn-lit waves to contrast against. I’ve always wanted a shot of myself that captures this moment and was lucky enough that @ianbirdphoto was there to capture it last week. Thanks mate! Love this shot.

Geez it felt good to surf at one of my favourite spots last week with a hand full of good people. I’ll be honest though, I was a little nervous about how I’d be performing as I don’t get much of a chance to surf these days due to other priorities and responsibilities, glad that I managed to get my act together on a few waves (and horribly on a few that I won’t burn your eye-balls with on here).
