LINA – Melodrama Tour 2026 @_lina_official_ takes us to the Melodrama Café on her tour. One of the first shows I had the opportunity to program entirely myself, and I am incredibly proud of the final result and the work everyone put into this production. No Show Romeo ___________________ Lighting Design, Lighting Programming No Show Romeo, a kind of sequel to Shakespeare’s classic, takes place the day after Juliet’s feigned death. When she wakes up, she realizes Romeo is gone and has abandoned her. The set and lighting design are based on a subway station — an unfriendly and cold place, defined by waiting. The dark orange sodium light symbolizes the sense of being lost and abandoned, while the trains, represented through light, stand for hope. These two opposites continuously clash throughout the play. Over time, the space begins to glitch, as the subway station merges with the protagonists’ memories. Over the past few months, I had the opportunity to complete an internship at Nederlands Dans Theater (@ndtdance ). During this time, I was part of the lighting team, contributing to the productions of both NDT1 and NDT2, and later accompanying the ensembles on tour. This experience not only gave me the chance to gain more practical knowledge in the logistics of touring but also allowed me to further refine my skills with grandMA. At the same time, I gained insights into the world of contemporary dance and the significant role that lighting design plays in shaping ballet performances. I am thankful to the NDT team for this inspiring time and look forward when our paths cross again!

Wolken by @mali_liv_golda_ ___________________ The song “Wolken” is about the process of learning to cope when you have lost someone. It evolves from grief, to learning how to let go, to taking courage/hope again. We wanted to emphasize this development with the stage and lighting design. The song begins very darkly and mysteriously to convey the feeling of being left behind and not knowing what’s happening. They stand in a field of flowers that have just been thrown on the grave. Towards the end of the song, the sky breaks open. The light shining, which represents the sun, symbolizes a glimmer of hope and is a kind of signpost for the future. Liever Dood Dan Een Musical ___________________ In the musical “Liever dood dan een musical”, two characters meet in a waiting room before the final judgment. The contrasts between sadness and joy, which is emphasised by the two roles, could not be more different. The idea behind the lighting design was to focus on these differences. The waiting room is a bare, boring space that is only filled with emotion by the protagonists. The light is designed to support this feeling. Additionally, the challenge was not to leave the space defined by the scenography so that there is a clear distinction between inside and outside. Lightdesign and programming by me. Dansen Met Demonen ___________________ The theatre play is about leaving behind one's own habits and the difficulties/opportunities coming along with it. The ambition was to create something interactive that would support the story but at the same time reducing the need for extra scenery. Therefore, we came up with the idea of a pyramid made out of light and with which the actors can interact. The pyramid divides the room into two different spaces. Depending on whether the actors are inside or outside the pyramid, the way they are perceived changes. The goal was to escape these "walls". Lightdesign and operation by me. Stage design by me and @daniel.steenhoff . Video design and operation: @daniel.steenhoff and @zonnetje4024 ___________________ #theatre #lightdesign #stagedesign
