The City of Bellevue Arts Program is seeking a highly experienced public artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install a large-scale public artwork in the Factoria neighborhood of Bellevue, Washington. The design of the artwork must be informed by Factoria’s community or elements of the area and provide a key visual landmark at the main entrance to the neighborhood’s commercial, residential and shopping area on Factoria Boulevard. The total budget for this project is $600,000 plus applicable sales tax. This opportunity is open to national and international artists or artist teams able to work in the United States. To apply, please visit the link in our bio before the application closes on June 7, 2026. Why a bunny? Fun(ish) fact: in the late 1920s Factoria became the headquarters for the burgeoning rabbit industry on the East Side, producing canned rabbit meat and fur as well as a marketing headquarters for the industry (source: Wikipedia). Disclaimer: there is no theme to this call. We are looking to commission an artwork informed by community elements! #PublicArt #BellevueWA #ArtistOpportunity #Bunny

Congratulations to the American Asian Performing Arts Theatre (AAPAT) on the groundbreaking of their new dance studio in Bellevue! Their new studio will serve not only as a creative space for AAPAT dance performers, but also as a shared resource for partner organizations, emerging artists, and cultural groups across the region. The AAPAT is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by Hengda Li and is dedicated to the promotion and development of Asian cultural and performing arts. Yesterday’s celebration marked a historic milestone and the beginning of a new chapter for AAPAT and the next generation of performing artists. Learn more about AAPAT at The AAPAT is an Eastside Arts Partnership (EAP) grant recipient, a city grant that provides operational support funding to nonprofits that provide annual arts, cultural, and heritage programs serving residents and visitors in Bellevue, Washington.

The city’s most recently installed art wrap is here! This project was part of the Neighborhood Enhancement Program, a city program that solicits proposals from residents for hyper-local enhancement projects. This one came from our Vuecrest neighbors, who wanted to see a decorative wrap on a new utility box outside the east entrance at 110th Ave NE and NE 10th St. Working with artist Kelly Bjork, the design of the box was inspired by the neighborhood’s 1940s promotional brochures and also a nod to the area’s history as farmland. We love seeing resident-led requests for more art in their neighborhoods, and we greatly enjoyed working on this one. Thank you to Kelly Bjork, Rob DeRider, the Vuecrest community, NEP program administrators, and SuperGraphics for making this project possible. @kelly_bjork @_supergraphics
