So heartbroken to hear the news of Mary’s passing. I’ve been trying to find the words all day to pay tribute to this incredible lady who I was so lucky to have in my life for so long.
I was only 15 when I first met Mary. She was so warm and friendly, bursting with a love for not only music but also for life. I spent the next few years going to her house every Saturday for my weekly lessons that could sometimes be hours long, she was always so generous with her time.
We then spent many wonderful years working together in RIAM where you taught us so many lessons about music, life and so much more. I knew I was very lucky to be part of the ‘Brennan Brigade’.
Some of my favourite lessons with Mary included an in-depth chat about our shared love for horse racing and occasionally a phone call to Paddy Power, when I’d be sent in with a tip from Dad for the days big race.
There was no other teacher like Mary, but she was so much more than a teacher. She was one of kind, a very dear friend, a mentor, a shoulder to cry on, our number one supporter, the list goes on. Thank you for everything you did for us. I wouldn’t be the person or the singer I am today without you Mary and I will carry you with me always. ❤️
Rest in peace 🕊️
