I used to think saying affirmations was a waste of time but every now and then, if I’m feeling *emotionally disregulated* or on the verge of an anxiety attack I’ll repeat these phrases under my breath until they feel true + more often than not, they really do help 🌷 sometimes I combine them with other coping strategies and sometimes I just do them on their own - I occasionally chop and change them to make them applicable to what I’m feeling, but I felt like these ones were the ones that come up most often 💫 the mind is a peculiar thing huh ???

here’s everything I did this week to make a living from my art // what being a full time artist ACTUALLY looks like ✏️💫
being ✨an artist✨ is often made out to be v dreamy and glamorous and relaxed... but in my experience there are a LOT of different things going on behind the scenes (and most of them are not dreamy or glamourous in the slightest lol)
it can be so easy to get stuck in a loop of comparing yourself to the v curated social media feeds of others and wonder why it doesn’t feel as dreamy / glamorous/ effortless for u as it seems to for them ..so it’s once again time for my weekly roundup of everything I ACTUALLY did to survive as a full time artist + creative in london ! 😮💨
1. tabled at TWO lovely art markets (special shoutout to my baby sister for coming along to help me out!!)
2. took some artwork to the framers before I send it off to an exhibition it’s been selected for!
3. chased some overdue payments 😬
4 + 5. Delivered some creative mentoring sessions and had calls with 2 potential mentoring clients ! :))
6. Updated @outsavvy and added tickets for all the arty workshops that are planned at the studio for the next little while ! (ticket 🔗 is in my bio!)
7. Finished up the planning for a v exciting @hystericalcollective workshop I’ll be hosting alongside @elizahatch@cheerupluv 💅

if I had waited until I felt ready to launch my art business, I probably would still be waiting tables in a pizza restaurant
(no shade I loved that job but I knew I wanted to go into a creative career)
this is ur reminder that imperfect systems + imperfect art + imperfect timing can still build a real creative career ! so here is part 2 with even more unhinged ways I run my art business that would send a perfectionist into a spiral 😵💫😵💫😵💫
not everything has to be *perfect* !!!!
it just has to be *done* 💁
for me *done* rather than *perfect* looks like…announcing things before I’m ready, testing ideas and seeing what sticks, relying on endless notes app lists to literally keep the business running, and occasionally working at extremely questionable hours because inspiration struck in the middle of the night
but… even this approach (if u can even call it that lol) has still built a real business.
so if nothing else, plssss let this serve as a very annoying reminder that perfectionism is often a terrible business advisor 😤😤😤
