✨ Meet British Tenor, James Beddoe who will be performing the role of Prince Ramiro in our upcoming production of La Cenerentola.
✨ James hails from Southwell, Nottinghamshire, and is an Artist Masters graduate from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Hurn Court Opera’s performance of La Cenerentola will be his fourth appearance as ‘Prince Ramiro’. In 2025, he will also perform with Stanley Arts for Coleridge Taylor’s Dream Lovers as ‘Manuel’. Other roles in 2022-24 include ‘The Duke’ The Duchess of Padua, ‘Fintan O’Riordan’ The Ballybruff Trilogy, ‘Nemorino’ Donizetti L’elisir d’amore, ‘Schoolmaster’ Janáček The Cunning Little Vixen, ‘Rodolfo’ Puccini La bohème, ‘Lensky’ Tchaikovsky Eugene Onegin, ‘Aeneas’ Purcell Dido & Aeneas. In addition, James regularly performs as an oratorio soloist and Evangelist. “It was James Beddoe’s tenor that moved me most, both musically and dramatically: he made something really touching of Rodolfo’s Che gelida manina and Nemorino’s Una furtiva lagrima” Seen and Heard International, 2024
“Elegant of phrase and patrician of manner. There’s a beguiling smile in his voice” The Stage, 2023.
✨ We cannot wait to see James take to the stage as Prince Ramiro!

Some fab photos @craigfullerphotography from rehearsals of @gothic_opera ‘s performance of Donizetti’s Maria de Rudenz! Such a great team and some great music too… think Lucia di Lammermoor but more ghostly 👻

Had a lovely trip back home for a ‘Music in the State Chamber’ recital with Jonathan Allsopp earlier this month, which supports the @southwellminster Choir Association.
It was truly a pleasure to perform Finzi’s stunning ‘Dies natalis’ in a place full of childhood memories, attended by friends, family and teachers from home :)
Back to perform with Jonny on 10th December for the Choir Association Messiah in Southwell Minster!
I can’t believe it’s been a month since taking part in Shirley Keane and Luke Byrne’s fantastic new production, ‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’ with @operaworkshoplimerick . It was a truly collaborative creative process, and a total joy to work with a wonderful team that I very much miss. What fun to play the wide-eyed, exuberant Fintan O’Riordan: I need him back in my life, not to mention those flares!

Finally had the chance to climb Ivinghoe Beacon with @hbeddoe1 for her birthday! Stunning views of our local area, but sadly the World Cup portkey was out of order*… but we did see an ACTUAL white stag (you can just make it out in the last picture)
*The Beacon was used for several Harry Potter films, including that moment in the Goblet of Fire

Opening night tonight! Performing as the Duke in ‘The Duchess of Padua’: a dark tragedy based on the Oscar Wilde play, where I play a thoroughly irredeemable monster… and he’s not even the worst person in the show! Magnificent performances from my colleagues: do come and see us!

Had a wonderful time performing the last two Messiahs of the season with @manchesterbaroquehistperf and @rugby_philharmonic_choir , each with a superb team! Great to see several old friends amongst the travelling too ❤️

Overjoyed to be taking up a regular position @templechurchldn next year! Such a wonderful place to make music, with a superb team and exciting plans for the future. A real pleasure to perform a cracking @templemusicfdn concert of German baroque music in the week of hearing the news: had a look around and took these in the break.
It will be extremely sad to leave @stbrideschurch , where I had the absolute best time with the finest of colleagues. Such a welcoming place with a lot of happy memories, and I’m sure there’ll be more in my remaining time there. When the time comes to appoint, I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone thinking of applying!

First time singing the B Minor Mass solos back home at @southwellminster with Peter Siepmann, @ehwturner and Nottingham Bach Choir, alongside a fantastic team of soloists!
Mislaid part of my waistcoat, so a spare USB cable came to the rescue! Surely there’s a quip about charging a tenor in there somewhere…
