Every time I see a film where a mother takes her child to a protest or a rally, I cry. Whether it be a documentary, a feature, a short, or a narrative film. It's because I see my childhood and the eternal promise that my Ma made to me. That better days lie ahead, that we can bring those days forth if we demand hard enough.

A year marked by disillusionment and a near loss of faith in justice and fairness. But I got to go home twice, hold my friends' babies, witness art, laugh with loved ones, cry with them, eat duck yolk ice creams, chase waterfalls, celebrate love, anniversaries, big wins, and losses. 12 photos from 12 months, plus a few more.
