#40Acres is hitting theaters this July! What an incredible journey this film has been. I'm beyond grateful to have been part of this powerful project. From the moment I read the script, I knew I had to be involved. Thank you to our fearless leader @directedbyrt , for taking a chance on me.
This production brought together an outstanding team, hair, costume, and so many other departments filled with talented, passionate people. I’ve come away with not only unforgettable memories but also lifelong friendships.
Our makeup team was a dream—myself @nomakeupwipes , @trina.brink.makeup , @ojibwayheadder . A special shoutout to @jenpunkari for always stepping in to lend a hand when needed.

The power of the community!!!
A little update on the drive this past weekend with @afifo2025 AFIFO. over 207 people came for the winter clothing drive.
A huge thank you to the OttawaU volunteers and the community. AFIFO is grateful. Also a big thank you to city Councilor Sean Devine.
** We STILL NEED MORE WINTER JACKETS AND BOOTS. Although 207 people were serviced, many more were not able to secure jackets. Our next drive is next weekend and throughout the month of November. If you have any lightly used winter clothing, please donate them. The last slide shows where to drop them off. If you have any questions please DM me. Volunteers are also needed.

This is the time a lot of immigrant families arrive and many don't have winter clothing. AFIFO is doing a winter clothing drive at the end of October and beginning of November.
Please consider donating and or if you are able to purchase some winter jackets. We are in desperate need of more winter jackets for kids age 3-12.

Dear friends, a little update from AFIFO:
This past weekend, March 8th AFIFO proudly served over 100 immigrant women with their families with winter/spring clothing, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who donated to our women’s clothing distribution initiative. Your generosity made a huge impact, and we’re especially thankful to all the amazing volunteers who supported us along the way.
We continue to welcome donations every Saturday at 4550 Bank Street. If you have gently used clothing or household items you no longer need, please consider donating.
What started as a small clothing drive has grown into something much bigger.
Many of the newcomers we’re supporting have shared that they need help beyond clothing — including ESL support, understanding the Canadian system, job search guidance, banking assistance, school registration, transit navigation, and mental health support, especially for those who have faced traumatic experiences.
We reached out to the community, and you answered. We’re incredibly thankful to now have volunteer teachers, and just this past weekend on March 8th, we welcomed a representative from @desjardinscoop along with a Registered Psychotherapist from Centerpointe Professional Services.
We’ve also had the pleasure of connecting with community leaders, including representatives from the City of Ottawa, the Findlay Creek City Councillor, and MP @anita_vandenbeld All of whom have expressed genuine interest in supporting this growing initiative.

We’re still in need of more support and professional services. In my next post, I'll share a detailed list of current needs and ways that you or your organization can help.

A very big thank you to everyone that came out today and all the volunteers. Thank you to the community that donated kids clothing. It was a very big success.
We served people from Algeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and Congo today.
If you know any families in need please send them our way. The next drive will be February 8th.
I will post again in the next few days to share some of the needs/ resources that these families need. We had the opportunity to talk to them and hear their stories.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who came out this past weekend to help with the drive(First picture).It was a great success! As mentioned, this will be an ongoing initiative for the next few months. We received an incredible amount of support from the community, and I’m deeply grateful for that. The response has been truly overwhelming.
I’m still working on getting back to everyone, so please bear with me as I finalize pick-up dates and times. If I take longer to respond, don’t hesitate to send me a follow-up message. I just wanted to provide a quick update and will continue to share information in the coming weeks. We are still in need of more clothes and volunteers. I’ll post a more specific list of needs in about two weeks after we speak with the community about their exact requirements.
Also, if you have extra clothes throughout the year, please consider donating them to local organizations instead of large corporations. There are many groups in our community, such as those supporting Ukrainian, Palestinians/ Syrians refugees, just to name a few that could benefit from your generosity. Many community organizations and even food banks are connected to networks that can help direct your donations to those who need them most.
Once again, thank you to everyone for your ongoing support. I’m going through the messages slowly and scheduling pick-ups, so I really appreciate your patience. May God bless you all.
