Eric Speckman was never interested in playing only a small part in the development process. He co-founded Beauxwright so that he could bring his institutional-level brokerage and asset management experience to a more nimble and entrepreneurial company, with a hand in every aspect of a project.
“It is incredibly fulfilling to take a site from concept, to design, through construction and operations, and ultimately to an exit, he says. “To see it through from start to finish, and to see how it can positively impact your partners and the community.”
Eric’s big-picture vision continues to drive the culture at Beauxwright, and has resulted in several successful projects across the Carolinas, from Asheville to Greenville, SC to Eric’s hometown of Charlotte – which he says “has been fortunate to have great business and civic leaders who have paved the way for the growth we have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy.”
Along the way, the importance of building strong relationships has remained a foundational value for Eric and his team. “Whether we are rezoning a property and need to get support from the neighborhood stakeholders, raising capital from our capital partners, or working with the many team members that help us design and build a project, we view creating win-win solutions as a must,” he explains.

Like Plaza Midwood, like NoDa, vibrant new communities continue to emerge organically in the fast-growing Charlotte market. Case in point: the Oakhurst/MoRA corridor southeast of Uptown, where Radial at MoRA Point is the first build-to-rent townhome property to put down stakes.
Together with our development partners Cedar Square (@cedar.square ) and Copper Builders (@copperbuilders ), Beauxwright envisioned the potential when choosing the location for Radial. Strategically, we looked ahead with the knowledge that the Oakhurst/MoRA area was poised to see an influx of mixed-use investments and new retail that mirrored the early transformation of Plaza Midwood and NoDa from overlooked neighborhoods into desirable lifestyle hubs.
Fast-forward to a recent visit to the now-completed Radial, when our team had the opportunity to explore the thoughtful design, modern floorplans and high-end finishes – placing it at the very top of Charlotte’s emerging Eastside rental market. Charlotte’s Optimist Park community continues its exciting evolution, and the Beauxwright team is proud to have been at the forefront of it.
Back in 2017, we saw the potential for residential, commercial and retail development in this area east of Uptown Charlotte, on the edge of NoDa. The LYNX Blue Line Extension was bringing public transportation to the neighborhood. Directly across the street from Parkwood Station, we established two communities that provided attractive, modern residential options – and more importantly, the opportunity to offer affordable housing.

• As a result, 10% of the units are affordable apartments with rentals below market rate.

“What I like most about working in Charlotte is that it’s a young enough city that we can still make a meaningful mark on the built environment.” Andy Lucas has been a principal at Beauxwright for nearly a decade, and he values playing an active role in the significant growth and momentum in the city he calls home.
With his involvement in development projects throughout the area as well as the fast-growing market of Greenville, SC, Andy to continues to draw from his experience in credit analysis, asset management, capital markets and structured finance, including time as a vice president at Wells Fargo Commercial Real Estate. “I enjoy thinking about what could go wrong and how we’d figure our way out of particular challenges,” he says.

When developing Bauhaus South Slope in Asheville, the Beauxwright team worked closely with our engineering and architectural partners to turn a small section of land – on the side of a hill, no less – into a luxury townhome community with the features and amenities that residents wouldn’t find anywhere else.
