💖💖 SUPER EXCITED to share that my spots have been published in today’s issue of The New Yorker!! @newyorkermag I can’t believe this is my VERY FIRST commission since transitioning my career to illustration, and I couldn’t be more honored to have my work featured in such a prestigious publication🙂‍↕️ In this series, I truly let myself go wild, exploring dynamic and unexpected ways of figures interacting with frames. My goal was to challenge the conventional imagery of framed figures and push the boundaries of visual storytelling (OK that’s enough of big words🙂‍↔️ A heartfelt THANK YOU 💖to everyone who has helped and supported me on this journey. Special thanks to Rina @_leafiness_ for selecting this series, Alexandra @zsigmonda for the wonderful workshop opportunity, and Nick @iguessnick for the thoughtful feedbacks. I really look forward to creating more in the future. #newyorker #newyorkermag #spotillustration #illustration #illustrator

Dream, 2026. Spring vibes! 🌸🌷💐✨✨ It all began one day when I realized I haven’t really used pink in my works for over a year or so, which made me wonder why I have never used flowers as subjects of my work, and then it dawned upon me that I also haven’t been making anything that’s just chill, playful, and pretty to look at — and hence I decided to make one that contains all of the above! Yay! (Also my ins has been flooded by gorgeous spring illustrations since April which really gave me a push🙂‍↕️) So, this work is about dreams, their spontaneous nature and the beauty in the hope they bring. Period. Creative process: An absolutely ascetic experience of rendering the grass is involved🫪.I was (again) trying to push myself with the details and my patience with my work and, wow, I made great progress on that at the cost of some sanity. Switching back to using day scenes was also challenging after making night-themed works for a while, which was a bit ironic since the original intention of doing night scenes was to prevent myself from getting too comfortable with day scenes. I think with this piece I finally feel more comfortable and have more control over surreal themes that involve landscape, and I will keep on exploring my personal color palette in my future works🤔. #illustration #illustrator #digitalart #digitalillustration #surrealism

Voyage, 2026. Lately I was really inspired by Rob Gonsalves’ works and had the idea about making the reflections of moonlight on water morph into something else so here it goes…! ✨ The overall idea is still a bit Jungian…I thought it would be interesting to make a parallel between paper boats and a real boat — to indicate a transition between stages of development and how reflections bring us closer to our authentic selves. (But people are having a lot of different perspectives so - Creative Process: Procrastination. Absolutely panicked at the idea of making the sea one of the main subjects. Had no idea how to draw reflections on water. Seascapes scare me… I think the only reason why I got through it was that I procrastinated for so long that I forgot why I was procrastinating🙂‍↔️ Fortunately I was doing some live paintings in between which helped with some of the color issues. #digitalillustration #illustration #illustrator #sea #procreateart

Unmask, 2026. Pushing myself a bit further with composition and intention in this one🤔The gist of the illustration is basically summed up by the title (I guess) — it’s a piece about escaping from the shadow of one’s socially adapted persona and reuniting with the truth about themselves hidden in their intuition. Creative process: - Still learning & practicing with colors, adding just a little bit of light before things get out of hand. - Really really pushed myself with working on details and digging into subtleties. According to procreate’s track times statistics I am officially twice as patient now as I was before lol #illustration #illustrator #digitalart #procreateart

Bliss, 2026. First piece of illustration done in 2026🫧🫧 I have always wanted to create a piece that somehow shows the gratitude I feel for the unexpected incidents in life. Seemingly trivial and insignificant when looked upon individually, they eventually weave into a narrative that is truly unique and remarkable — a narrative that made us who we are while letting us choose who we want to be. Such moment of realization evokes a mixture of inexplicable feelings: maybe a sense of awe, of shock, of gratitude, of presence, etc. It is essentially deeply personal and reflective. — About the image: So everything started with the idea “what if the moon is a bubble” (which is super random but I like random stuff so I went for it. The imagery of the moon draws on Jungian symbolism: intuition, subconsciousness — everything beneath the surface of our self awareness that holds the truth about our authentic self. Making it into a bubble adds to the sense of surrealism and uncanniness %$ (ok I’ll figure sth out when I’m writing a proper statement — Creative process: Torture but well worth it. This piece taught me so much about building space and values and how important it is to be patient and concentrated even with subjects that are unfamiliar and scary. Redrawing something is fine. Redrawing something 15 times is also fine🙂‍↕️so glad that I stuck with it. #illustration #digitalart #procreateart #digitalillustration

Solitude, 2025. Trying to capture the sense of solitude as an experience of truly merging into the world and coexisting with everything…it is the exact opposition to the feeling of loneliness because when you’re fully present with yourself nothing else is really needed🤔And counterintuitively in a sense, that’s the beginning of understanding other people and providing true companionship. In terms of the actual creative process this piece took a lot of thinking and discarded sketches and for some reason was hard even though it doesn’t seem like it…!!! But I am happy with the rendering of the faces (see p2 for more details) and definitely learned a lot about building the texture of rocks in the process. Apparently I love cracks😅🙂‍↕️ #illustration #illustrator #digitalart #procreate

The Heroic, 2025. Another Jung inspired piece of work. “The heroic in you is the fact that you are ruled by the thought that this or that is good, that this or that performance is indispensable, this or that cause is objectionable, this or that goal must be attained in headlong striving work, this or that pleasure should be ruthlessly repressed at all costs. Consequently you sin against incapacity. But incapacity exists. No one should deny it, find fault with it, or shout it down.” (Should I add or not add citations here cuz that just feels so pretentious lmao) 👆so basically the piece is my visualization of the passage. The concept: in Jung’s language, “the confrontation between the heroic and the incapacity”; or, in common language, the constant struggle between one’s instinctive/authentic (?) impulses and the acquired beliefs/standards/judgements that is inflicted by one’s upbringings and the society — an inevitable process that is painful, disturbing, yet eventually leads to self realization and growth. Some thoughts behind the creative process: - The rock (?) : for the “incapacity” — I think the imagery of rock is often associated with stuff like hardship, and removing/lifting it is often a visual metaphor or removing problems. I was playing with ways to give a rock a flesh-like quality because it brings more emotions to the piece — the sense of disgust and discomfort associate with internal struggles, etc. — also maybe because part of me was very influenced by the Hellraiser aesthetics…idk - The fall: to show that in the process of removing what one identifies as “problematic” one might have overlooked the chance of self inspection and hence, removed a part of the self. I also flipped the original image (P3) to give it a stronger sense of falling and instability. - The knight: my idea of what screams “hero” lol This piece was really challenging to work with because I was experimenting with some new techniques and ideas, but I definitely end up learning a lot from the process and decision making 🙂‍↕️— see p4 for rough sketch. #illustration #digitalart #carljung #surrealart

Self Image, 2025. — that the image of self is often an illusion is not a secret, nor is the fact that despite the knowledge of such, many still find it difficult to let go of that illusion due to the pain that follows, which turns out to be yet another illusion🤔 — kind of inspired by Jung and some other readings. But primarily because I want to experiment with drawing the head with the texture of an eggshell — which somehow always felt more exciting than the part lol. #illustration #illustrator #digitalart #carljung

Book cover mockup for Faust. Idk how exactly do I feel about Faust — it’s Faust. The book is just so rich, dense, esoteric, weirdly relatable, questionable, etc. (and on top of everything, so very long so I didn’t…). But there are many passages in the book which really struck me even upon the very first time of reading, which I still occasionally think about🤔 Some reasons behind the design: Bitten apple — symbol of temptation, of course. The stem made into a devil’s horn — Mephistopheles. Apple core made into the shape of a female figure — reference to the Eternal Feminine — both as a form of seduction and a transcending force of salvation — which is why I placed it at a the center of the image. Apple being placed on a book & staining the cover — I used it to refer to Faust’s despair with life & disappointment with knowledge after having basically learned everything but still feeling an immense sense of emptiness. Putting fruits that leak juices on books is a serious crime, even for non book lovers lol. Depicting a book titled Faust on the book cover for Faust — based on my personal reading of the book — a reminder to potential readers that even Faust is just a book despite the weight it carries, and life exists outside of it. #bookcover #bookcoverdesign #faust #illustration
