You could hear a pin drop. Thank you for an unforgettable finale to our season. Your presence, your listening, and your energy made these performances what they were. We are deeply grateful to our supporters and donors who make this work possible — keeping every performance free and open to all. If you feel moved to support, you can give at maccbrooklyn.org. Stay tuned for our 2026/27 season.

Join us for an exciting weekend in our parish as we enter into Passiontide, the period commencing with “Passion Sunday” on the 5th Sunday of Lent until the Triduum on Holy Thursday. Following Sunday’s 5:00 p.m. Mass at Our Saviour, the Choir of Our Saviour & Sacred Hearts offers a choral meditation tracing the Passion narrative. Listen here to an excerpt from Jake Runestad’s Let My Love Be Heard, a setting of a text by Alfred Noyes. Conducted by Buck McDaniel, the choir is considered one of the leading ensembles of its kind. This event is not to be missed. Earlier that day, we present the OCIA candidates with the Nicene Creed as they enter the final days in their journey towards confirmation at the Great Vigil of Easter on April 4. All are welcome to witness this exciting step at the 12:00 Noon Mass at the Chapel of the Sacred Hearts. Of course, our regular Mass schedule is in place. We hope you’ll make a point in including Passion Sunday at Our Saviour part of your Lenten journey.

Beloveds, I had the tremendous honor of composing and conducting a fistful of music for an event at The General Theological Seminary (@thegeneralseminary ) (in tandem with @virginiaseminary ) honoring Stephen Colbert (as in, @colbertlateshow @stephenathome ) alongside new works by Nico Muhly (@nicomuhly ) and a new set of Preces & Responses by Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett (@martywheelerburnett ) Pictured here: Mr. Colbert, Dr. Burnett, Elliot Yates (@angelabassethound ) (my music assistant on the project), and myself. For those of you interested in learning more, seeing more photos, and hearing some of the music, I wrote about the experience here on my Substack (😬🥴) which can access at the link in my bio. *** Some thanks: 1) My partner-in-crime, Michael W. DeLashmutt (@deandelashmutt ), Dean of Chapel, for the trust and confidence he brings to our working relationship. 2) Marty Burnett, for the lovely new pieces, and for being such a warm and supportive voice when she’s up from VTS. 3) Elliot, for being such a good friend in his actions and support over the past 14 years. 4) My fantastic band, comprising some of my favorite musicians. 5) Fritz Myers (@fritzmyers ), for being so supportive in All Things, but also my audio/tech ignorance.

It’s a new year, and MACC is working to make art that moves — physically and emotionally. We wanted to reintroduce ourselves to everyone who’s recently found our work. MACC is a Brooklyn based choral ensemble creating free live choral theater for our community. Our musicians perform on stages around the world, yet come together here in Brooklyn to create something intimate, generous, and shared. Choral theater that shifts, breathes, and responds to the people in the room, telling timeless stories with deeply human themes. This season has already reminded us why we do this. Our last two performances filled our home venue, the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph (@brooklyn_cocathedral ), with neighbors, friends, and first time audience members discovering choral music in a new way. Free. Local. Alive. Woven into the place we call home. Learn more about who we are and consider donating to help keep our performances free for all at maccbrooklyn.org (link in bio).
