Grateful for the opportunity to speak at the World Ocean Summit in Montreal, hosted by Economist Impact.
My talk focused on a structural issue facing many islands economies: global climate and ocean finance commitments are growing but projects often stall before reaching a stage where investors can participate.
Before infrastructure can be financed, projects must be prepared - with feasibility work, environmental studies, regulatory clarity and procurement pathways in place.
Strengthening this preparation layer may be one of the most practical ways to move from pledges to payments in climate and ocean finance.
