Join CBRC @thecbrc and HIM @instahim to celebrate an art exhibition highlighting 2S/LGBTQIA+ community connection, resistance, and strength through art. March 23rd - 28th 2026 at the @bcabca_ca Sun Wah Centre at 268 Keefer Street, Vancouver BC.
RISE: Reach into Self-Expression showcases the work of 21 2S/LGBTQIA+ participants from the Fraser Region of BC, created through 11 arts-based workshops designed to foster reflection, dialogue, and collective care. Together, participants explored their own definitions and lived experiences of gender-based violence, transforming personal and shared stories into powerful visual expressions of resistance.
The exhibit weaves together research and art to illuminate both the realities of harm and the enduring strength of community. Each piece stands as an act of resistance; reclaiming voice, fostering connection, and imagining safer futures.

We are delighted to highlight Janet Wang as one of our tenants!
Janet Wang is a visual artist and educator working within a traditional painting practice, integrated with sculptural installation practices and digital media. Her work has centered identity as a second generation settler of Chinese heritage, examining the disruption of social patterns and familiar gestures. After reconnecting with Chinatown while being at BCA, Janet began a new line of research using traditional Chinese herbal apothecary practices to map the smells and sounds of Chinatown. We are thrilled we got the chance to visit her studio and for Janet to be part of our story.

Yarrow supports youth and low-income immigrant seniors in Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside through cultural, social, and language-based programming. While most of their community work happens out in the world, their unit here at BCA is where the behind the scenes magic takes place, from organizing mutual aid to building intergenerational solidarity.
