I visited the San Francisco Mime Troupe today. I had not been in that building for over 20 years. But my mother was an actor in the troupe for years. And I grew up in the Mission next door to their rehearsal studio, office and workshop. They would practice every spring in the back yard getting ready for the summer tour. I would know summer was coming when I could hear actors practicing their lines and songs, the drums hitting the jokes, and the live band starting to warm up. What an incredible history the Troupe has had. Over 60 years of theater, activism and satire. #sfmimetroupe
Hello everyone. I am posting to let you all know that I have rented the old Et Al gallery space (they moved next door) and will be opening a project space. I think I am going to call it Climate Control. But I am also calling it Fear, and Being alive without wanting the world. One aspect of the space that I hope you will all work with me on is thinking about how to create environmentally low-impact exhibitions. I am including this part here because I feel like it will require community. Lots more to talk about. See you soon!
We will be opening with an exhibition on September 9th.
