Last night we had a very special evening at @mereworthwines , celebrating the Tonbridge Business Awards 2026 with our sponsor reception. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring together this year’s sponsors, who are making the awards possible, alongside our judges, so we could thank them personally for their support.
We also loved introducing them to our two chosen Tonbridge charities that will benefit from this year’s awards ceremony: @scottsprojecttrust and @westkentmind .
The evening was hosted at the stunning Mereworth Winery, just outside Tonbridge, who will also be welcoming guests on 25th June with a glass of their exceptional new rosé on arrival at @emforstertheatre . After tasting it last night, we can confirm guests are in for a treat.
Guests enjoyed chilled Mereworth Pink 2022 and delicious canapés while Jess welcomed everyone and thanked sponsors in person. We also heard from Malcolm Clarke of headline sponsor @baxallc , Scott Gebbie of Mereworth, Karen Wallin of Scotts Project Trust, and Pip Lawrence of West Kent Mind.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors for 2026 - you are all incredible. Your support helps us celebrate local business success and create a meaningful impact in our community.

We’re proud to support Women in Construction Week and we’d like to spotlight 4 of the incredibly talented women at Baxall and celebrate their successes! 👏
➡️ Click through to discover more about Wendy Bass, Frankie Spry, Jenine Sa Andrade and Lynsey Baddeley-Thornton and their success across project management, engineering, surveying and construction support. Their achievements show there are no barriers for women in construction, whether that be on site or in the office. Each one balances site life with family, proving you can build a rewarding career while being a mum.
The industry faces a critical skills shortage. Women make up less than 20% of the construction workforce, leaving a huge, untapped talent pool. If more women choose construction as a career, we can fill job gaps and future-proof the sector. The trades provide strong pay, career growth and clear ways to advance, whatever your background.👷♀️
These ladies show the younger generation what’s possible: you can work with your hands, lead teams and return home with stories for your children. We need more women to join the industry, change perceptions and strengthen construction for everyone.
💡The industry needs new skills and fresh ideas. The next generation of women - bring yours! 🌟

Inspiring the next generation of construction professionals at our Baxall Open Day 2025 🏢👷
We are beyond proud and delighted with the success of our second annual Baxall Open Day! Welcoming students from schools and local colleges to immerse themselves into the world of construction. Including a welcome talk from Malcolm Clarke and Stuart Hardie, guided tours of our working offices and presentations from 10 job roles across the built environment. We are happy to have given the students a fresh perspective on the industry and opened their eyes to the wide range of exciting career opportunities available to them.
⭐️ Feedback has been incredible and it’s truly rewarding to hear how much it has impacted the students. A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and parents who brought students along, and of course to the students themselves for attending with such enthusiasm and curiosity.
We’re looking forward to sharing more content from the day over the coming weeks, but for now, this video offers a fantastic insight into how the day unfolded.
Because 'Doing it Differently' isn't just our tagline - it's a commitment!
Timed perfectly to share on #tlevelsweek 🎓
📸 Francis Barber PRU – Steel Signing Ceremony 🖊️▶️
On Friday 12th September, the project team at Francis Barber PRU marked a key milestone in the construction journey with a Steel Signing Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the steel frame.
The signed beam will be installed this week, serving as a lasting reminder of this special moment - and of the collaborative efforts behind this important project. 🤝
Project Update | Maidstone Grammar School for Girls 🏫
Fantastic progress continues at MGGS, captured brilliantly in this latest drone footage by Damian Constable of Ovenden Drone Services. 🎥 The aerial video offers a dynamic view of the site’s complexity, positioned next to a live railway and an operational school, with narrow access routes, tight manoeuvring space for large deliveries, and close proximity to residential areas.
Despite the challenges, Team 2 continues to deliver exceptional work on the ground. Strong collaboration with the school and positive feedback from stakeholders highlight the professionalism and care being shown throughout the build.
A great example of how we handle challenging projects with precision and simplicity. With Streif UK set to complete the frame by the end of the week, we’re looking forward to seeing the next phase take shape. ✅🏗️
Well done to everyone involved! 👏 Excellent work and stunning drone footage showcasing a live, evolving site in action.
@worth.school School Science Extension 🧪 🔬 Completion and Handover
We’re delighted to announce the successful completion and handover of the new Science Extension at Worth School.
This modern facility, delivered to the highest standards, will significantly enhance the school’s science teaching provision for current and future students. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the occasion, attended by the Head Teacher, science faculty, support staff, over 100 students, and even alumni, highlighting the importance of this milestone for the school community.
The team were proud to deliver a building that the school are extremely pleased with, both in terms of design and the high-quality finish achieved.
Well done to James Beasley, Andrew Filmer, and all of Team 1 for their hard work and dedication throughout.

👩🎓 Maidstone Apprenticeship Fair 2025 👨🎓
Special thanks to Harry Jenkins, Oliver Noctor and Reagan Williams for manning our Baxall stand all day, and Contracts Director Stuart Hardie for popping in too. Another successful Apprenticeship Fair at Mote Park Leisure Centre, supporting the local students and on hand for construction careers advice. It was very well attended, with several students interested in work experience opportunities, and many conversations had - it was a very busy day for the Baxall team!
It was also a fantastic opportunity to market our next Baxall Open Day this October, and we're pleased that so many students and teachers are looking forward to attending.
Thank you to the teachers and career advisors that took the time to talk with the team and provide such positive feedback on the previous years. Complimenting the professionalism and knowledge of the Baxall staff and expressing how insightful this has been for their students.
A great event hosted by the local MPs - Katie Lam, Helen Grant OBE, Helen Whately MP, Laura Trott and Tom Tugendhat. We look forward to the next one!
