Basque is a band from Kitchener, Ontario, that boldly pushes the boundaries of the screamo genre, delivering a loud and chaotic sonic style that embodies emotional hardcore music. The group, consisting of Nathaniel Murray (vocalist), Nicolas Couture (bassist), Alexandra Garvin (guitarist), and Jakob Dodge (drummer), released their debut album “Pain Without Hope Of Healing” in March of this year (2024). The record features a captivating collection of dissonant and thrilling tracks that profoundly convey a sense of despair. I had the opportunity to talk with the band about evocative lyricism, the underground punk scene, and horror movie influences.
