Careers are shaped in the small moments: a project lead making time for feedback, a mentor encouraging someone to speak up, a teammate sharing knowledge instead of guarding it. We’re proud of these moments because they helped earn Baskervill recognition as a 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 by Best Companies Group. This national honor celebrates organizations where employees feel supported in building meaningful, long-term careers.

Sustainable design is as much about the people as it is about the planet. That’s why this #EarthMonth our Sustainability Committee led a series of initiatives created to bridge the gap between high-level green goals and high-performance design choices. From educational deep-dives to hands-on action, we’re empowering every team member to think strategically about checkboxes and certifications to make positive impact possible for every project.

The Shockoe Institute has officially arrived, and with it, the debut of its signature exhibit, “Expanding Freedom”—an immersive experience that traces the history of racial slavery and its persistent legacy in America. We were honored to celebrate the opening last week alongside project partners, Mayor Danny Avula, Governor Abigail Spanberger, and the passionate community of Richmond, Virginia.
A highlight of the event was hearing Fred Hopkins in conversation with Todd Waldo (@shockoeinstitute ) and L’Rai Arthur-Mensah (@local_projects ), as they walked the audience through the creation of the signature exhibit. The panel illuminated the “how” behind the “what”, showing how shared vision helped translate a complex history into a transformative spatial experience.
Visit the Shockoe Institute at Main Street Station to witness “Expanding Freedom”, and experience the profound narrative happening right now in Shockoe Bottom.

We believe architecture is where technical precision meets artistic expression. And this year, even the calendar seems to agree, as #WorldArtDay and #ArchitectureWeek perfectly align.
With both celebrations overlapping today, it’s a chance to reflect on how creativity shapes our process. Through events like our annual ‘Gallery Night’ in Richmond, creative exploration becomes a shared practice. Moments like these allow us to step back and sharpen how we see detail, brainstorm ideas, and carry deeper meaning into our day-to-day.
@henricocasa advocates for children experiencing abuse and neglect, and each April, local teams design and build playhouses to raise awareness and support that mission.
This year’s theme, “It Takes a Village,” inspired us to team up with @dprconstruction to build the RVA Little Market. Brick by tiny brick, this adorable A-frame features grocery shelves to fuel imagination and a unique pop-up roof to increase ventilation and balance the scale for tiny shopkeepers and their adult customers.
