“I have been a shopaholic. But now I have reinvented myself.”
After reading a UN report about climate change, influencer @anitha_clemence with 58.000 followers on Instagram, decided to stop consuming clothes. First, for three months. Then she expanded that shopping stop to a year.
“I felt that I was a bad role model, both for my followers and for my kids”, Anitha says.
She wants people to think more about:
- How fast fashion destroys the environment
- How we consume things we don’t need, just to throw them away
- How we associate happiness and self-worth with having the latest outfit
The result? Praise, but also criticism and a loss of income.
Still, Anitha says it’s been totally worth it.

“If you can imagine it, geothermal can do it” said Paul Thomsen, CEO of @ormat_technologies .
Geothermal can stabilize grids, provide storage, decarbonize heating and cooling, and turn waste heat to power. Apart from just supplying power and/or heating, of course.
Plus: the whole supply chain is often 100% local, said Jeanine Vany, one of the founders of Eavor Technologies.
Ajit Menon from @bakerhughesco described how the oil and gas sector is helping geothermal scale, by sharing their subsurface knowledge and drilling expertise.
Sanjeev Kumar from EGEC Geothermal said “We won’t get to a 100% renewable grid and zero emissions without the baseload power of geothermal.
Gaetan Bonhomme from Breakthrough Energy Ventures uttered the best closing remark:
“In the future, we might be making jokes about the 300 years or so when humans were crazy enough to take all the fossil fuels from the ground and spreading them in the air.”
