One of the remarkable things about my father (1948 - 2016) was that, as long as I knew him, he read several books a week, mainly thrillers. Something you might not expect from a (retired) roofer. About half a year after his death, my mother asked me to throw away a bunch of these paperbacks. Before I threw them into a paper recycling container, I looked at each one and wondered what had been going on in my father's mind. I took them home and started reading them.
In the first thriller, which was over 600 pages, I found only one sentence about art: On the walls hung several large, unframed paintings that were either particularly good imitations of pools of vomit, or represented modern abstract art (from: If the Dead Do Not Rise by Philip Kerr, p. 340). I found this striking, but not that strange, since the main characters in these kinds of books are often ex-military or police officers and are usually not much into art. However, after reading a number of these thrillers, I noticed that this derogatory description of art was not an exception and these details became increasingly important to me.

The museum for art in public space was cofounded by us over 10 years ago.
We see the public space as a museum and aim to connect people to their city.
The museum initiated several art products: museum nights, tours for elementary schools, a statue to statue run and recently an app that shows the most direct route to art.

Thanks Berlin and @missreadberlin : representing @diabp_books I had a great time with @xandrinekoller and @jandirkvanderburg !
Almost the last picture: in this street I once lived when I was a promising art student at the Weissensee Art Academy, ā98-ā99.
Last picture: horrible train ride (no airco) on our way back with Deutsche Bahn, but water for free (gratis).

Still recovering from @we.are.super.books in München together with @diabp_books colleague and friend @louis_reith . In 3 days: 18 hours driving, 14 hours art book fair, 8 hours drinking beer, and half an hour performance.
During the art book fair Between Books @kunsthalleduesseldorf , Katja Illner šø captured this subtle text of the great @alvaroseixas in the book Mind the Artist published in collaboration with @bas_fontein (BASBOEK).
@fotogwnl made this impression of my work for this years edition of @royallightfestival Itās a sort of news ticker that is showing a Dutch text moving from right to left. This Dutch text is generated by Google search, with the words āligtā (Dutch for āis locatedā), ālichtā (same Dutch pronunciation as āligtā, but this word means ālightā) and the English word ālightā in combination with the word āApeldoornā and is shuffeld and rewritten by me. The text (14 pages of A4) is designed and converted to a 2.5 hours movie by @studioscheffers and the production is done by @studioschilp with three huge beamers. The beamers project on a surface of approximately 50 x 3,5 meters. The project was initiated by @acecgebouw@codaapeldoorn and @outoftheratrace_ootrr and is hosted by @samen01 . @royallightfestival is in my hometown Apeldoorn from March 13-17. Iāll share the real result asap !!
When I work with @medea_huisman in the studio, itās just impossible to make some straight forward portfolio pics of my 25 years of BASBOEK anniversary box ššš
