We’re still ringing from @penangcocktailweek 2025! 🍸✨100 guest bartenders from 30 cities, over 80 guest shifts, inspiring bar talks, masterclasses, and the exciting debut of Bar Show Malaysia at Ascott Gurney Penang. In just three years, Penang Cocktail Week has grown into Malaysia’s biggest cocktail and bartending festival — and this year, “A Cocktail Of Cultures,” was the largest yet! We caught up with founder @shen.pdf to go behind the scenes of PCW and its journey so far. Founded by Koh Yung Shen of @backdoorbodega , Penang Cocktail Week began in 2023 with a mission: to shine a light on Penang’s one-of-a-kind cocktail culture, where nearly 90% of bars are owned and run by the bartenders themselves. This passion-driven scene creates an intimacy and authenticity that sets Penang apart on the global stage. The inaugural @barshowmy brought together over 30 spirit and liqueur brands from around the world, alongside cocktails from the best of Penang, guest shifts from award-winning bartenders, industry banter sessions, and a poolside finale that capped off the celebration in true PCW style.
