Founded by Koh Yung Shen of
@backdoorbodega , Penang Cocktail Week began in 2023 with a mission: to shine a light on Penang’s one-of-a-kind cocktail culture, where nearly 90% of bars are owned and run by the bartenders themselves. This passion-driven scene creates an intimacy and authenticity that sets Penang apart on the global stage.
The inaugural
@barshowmy brought together over 30 spirit and liqueur brands from around the world, alongside cocktails from the best of Penang, guest shifts from award-winning bartenders, industry banter sessions, and a poolside finale that capped off the celebration in true PCW style.
