Last week during National Legislative Day, Barnhill - alongside our NC Museum of History project tri‑venture partners @balfourbeatty_us and @holtbrothersconstruction - hosted a lunch with legislators for Carolinas AGC members at the Downtown Raleigh jobsite. The event sparked meaningful conversations about our industry’s impact and wrapped with a project recap and site tour showcasing the important work underway at the museum.
Our very own Matt Turner, Vice President of Design-Build Services, recently represented Barnhill on a panel at the A4LE North Carolina Chapter Conference. Matt joined industry leaders, @ls3p , @timmonsgroup , and @cumberlandcosch to discuss construction delivery methods, share insights from his experience, and highlight how delivery method selection can shape better outcomes for our clients and communities.
🎉 Sam Eason Promoted from Foreman to Heavy Equipment Trainer!
With Barnhill since 2018, Sam is known for his strong commitment, hands‑on experience, and extensive knowledge of heavy equipment. He steps into this role as Bennie Owens prepares to retire in June, continuing an important legacy of training and crew development.
Congratulations, Sam—we’re excited to see the impact and growth you’ll make in this new role!
Safety starts with the conversations we have in the field. Last week, crews across multiple building and civil jobsites held stand‑downs for #NationalConstructionSafetyWeek, focusing on fall prevention and keeping each other safe.
Grateful for the teamwork and leadership that goes into making safety part of how we work, every single day. #BarnhillBuilt
We’ve officially wrapped up sitework for @@andrettikarting in Durham. This marks just the 14th Andretti Indoor Karting & Games location in the United States, and we’re proud to have played a role in bringing it to life. Even better, the site sits right beside Topgolf, a project we completed just two years ago—you’ll spot both in a few of the photos.
Another great project in the books and another exciting space ready to serve the community.

🌟 Matthew Fisher Promoted to Foreman!
Through years of hard work, reliability, and steady leadership, Matthew has earned this next step. As part of Barnhill’s Emerging Leader Program, he’s built a strong foundation in paving operations, leads by example in the field, and brings a clear focus on safety, quality, and teamwork in the Southeast Division. We’re excited to see him continue to grow with Barnhill.

Falls are preventable.
During #NationalConstructionSafetyWeek, Barnhill is joining OSHA’s Falls Prevention Stand‑Down, taking time to refocus on planning the work, recognizing hazards, and using the right protection every time.
Take a minute to watch these quick reminders and stay focused on what matters most: getting home safe at the end of the day.
#FallsPrevention #StandDown4Safety
A team from our Southeast Division recently built a wheelchair ramp for a local senior who's facing serious health and mobility challenges. With a new motorized wheelchair, this ramp will help her move safely from her home to her vehicle, easing the physical strain on loved ones and providing a more secure path in and out of her home.
We're proud to be a #partofthestory with the @council_on_older_adults to make everyday life a little easier for our neighbors. ❤️
At Barnhill, safety isn’t just a goal, it’s how we take care of our people.
Congratulations to our Southeast Division for being recognized by Travelers for multiple safety awards, which represent countless safe decisions made by our crews in the field.
We’re proud of this team and the culture they help build every day. 👏

🎉 Jordan Hayes Promoted to Roller Operator!
Jordan has been working alongside his Foreman in our Southeast Division and has quickly become a valued member of the team. Known for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to jump in wherever needed, Jordan shows up every day ready to learn and grow.
He’s completed our equipment training program and is gaining seat time in the field as he continues building his skills. We’re proud to see his hard work paying off and excited for what’s ahead. Keep rolling, Jordan!

🙌Congratulations to David Wiest on retiring his retirement from Barnhill Building Group after 32 years of service. This new chapter in life is well-deserved!
David has been a staple in Barnhill Building Group for years and has worked on some of our largest projects. He is an outstanding leader, friend and mentor to many. His wealth of knowledge and experience will be missed, but his legacy will continue in Barnhill’s next generation.
We wish you the best in your retirement and hope you enjoy every minute of it!
🚥 I‑5979 Richmond County | US‑1/174 Project Progress
A key milestone has been reached on the US‑1 widening project in Richmond County with the completion of both roundabouts at the US‑74 interchange. This work is part of approximately 0.7 miles of roadway widening, including storm drainage, water line, and sewer line installation.
Working in coordination with NCDOT, the project team implemented a single full‑closure approach to efficiently construct the roundabouts, completing the work in 36 days within the adjusted schedule.
With this milestone complete, the project is now tracking toward completion before June 1, about 45 days ahead of schedule. We appreciate the continued collaboration with NCDOT and our subcontractors as we near the finish line.
