“Do You Think My Ancestors Watch Me Doomscroll?” is a musical poetry performance with poetry by Dina Lobo and music by Emmanuel Lacopo. The set is an ode to the thread that connects us, shaped by the tension between the past and discomfort of the present. It explores the juxtaposition of doomscrolling as a form of distraction and escapism alongside ancestral presence, questioning the ways the past is often spoken for or romanticized. DJ Jon Raja will be playing a special vinyl set to for the second half of the night: Jon Raja is the third generation of vinyl collectors/DJs in his family. His sets explore this generational exchange as a means of sharing moments with loved ones present and past. TICKET LINK IN BIO Performance starts at 8:30 Vinyl Set at 9:30 —————————————— In collaboration with Jugaar: Jugaar is an Urdu Hindi word translating to “making do.” A practice rooted in resourcefulness within constraint and resilience amid struggle, it is more than a DIY approach - it is an ethos of survival. Dina Lobo is a poet, filmmaker and artist. Her work carries the voices of womanhood often left unheard and gives space for the ugly, irrational and beautiful to run free in the playground of femininity. Dina explores themes of self perception, ageism and identity in her performances. Emmanuel Lacopo’s music bridges classical guitar tradition with progressive metal, electronic music and post-rock, creating a uniquely post-classical experience.

Co-founder of the Tumbao DJ collective, his specialty spans the afro-latin-brazilian-caribbean spectrum, with a predilection for vinyl. He is currently resident DJ at La Murga, a popular salsa dura monthly. 🧳 Maxime Daigle has been active in Montréal music scene with different DJ projects like Vinyl Love Collective founded in 2010. He is also the co-founder of Vinyl Caravan, a company that organised many record fair and pop up dance party since 2017.
