When it came time to decide on a name for my dog business, I endlessly searched for something that will combine my love and passion for music and dogs. Finally I came up with ‘Barkitone’. A combination of the words: • Bark - the abrupt, harsh, explosive cry of a dog. • Baritone - a male voice or voice part intermediate between tenor and bass. Dogs use their bark as a mean of interaction, to communicate and show how they feel. It is their voice. The smallest inflection in tone could have a whole new meaning. From happiness or excitement, to scared and fearful. That’s why I take the time at any session, whether it’s a training, walk, or even just house sitting, to not only analyze the dogs body posture and surroundings, but also listen to what they’re trying to say.
