Lisa Long (CCS Bard '17) has been appointed curator of the Julia Stoschek Collection. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ "Commenting on her new role, Long said: 'I am pleased to now focus my attention entirely on the artists in this extraordinary collection. With more than 850 works, it offers a variety of entry points to current social themes, such as questions of cultural and individual identity in the work of David Wojnarowicz, or the notion of crisis addressed in Cyprien Gaillard’s sculpture L’ange Du Foyer. Posted @withregram • @bardgradcenter Up close and personal with Eileen Gray’s lacquer screen! 😍 • The incised motifs on this six-panel screen mark a significant transition from the figurative compositions Gray favored in her earlier lacquer pieces. The variations in thickness of the lines bring to mind the abstract paintings Piet Mondrian created while living in Paris in the early 1920s, and they reveal how Gray’s work was informed by the Dutch avant garde.
