Bard NYC is not only about internships, professional development and classes but also about a lot of fun!
From ice cream socials and pasta nights with movies, to cheering at a Brooklyn Cyclones game in Coney Island, student life here is always active. Weâve had picnic at Domino Park, gone behind the scenes to watch live tapings of The Viewand The Daily Show, and even dressed up for a night at the MET Opera.
Itâs a mix of everythingâcity exploration, cultural experiences, and just good time with friends. Even our classes take us outside the classroom (like visiting the Federal Reserve!), so youâre constantly learning while actually living in NYC.
Definitely the kind of balance that makes the semester unforgettable.
Thinking about studying away and trying to figure out where it fits in your academic plans? Come to one of our study abroad info sessions during advising day!
Weâre back with an update from Maksym! Once of the core elements of @bardnyc is the internship experience. To learn more about Maksymâs internship this semester, read more here âŹ
This semester, alongside studying at Bard NYC, Iâve been interning at the Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations.
As someone from Ukraine, this work is deeply personal. I wanted to understand how international institutions respond to conflictânot just in theory, but in real time.
My day-to-day has included attending UN meetings, tracking discussions across committees, taking detailed notes, and helping synthesize key takeaways from negotiations and briefings. I often follow how different countries position themselves and how those positions evolve over time.
My favorite part has been attending Security Council meetings. They are one of the few spaces where global tensions are visible in real timeâwhere diplomacy, power, and narrative all collide. Listening to statements from different member states, you can see how each country frames the same issue differently to serve its strategic interests.
One moment that stood out was realizing how even small wording changes in resolutions can carry major political weightâsometimes shaping how a conflict is understood internationally.
Through this experience, Iâve strengthened my ability to analyze political messaging, follow fast-moving negotiations, and connect broader geopolitical dynamics to specific policy outcomes.
Being in New York made this possibleâand reinforced why I chose Bard NYC in the first place.
Looking forward to continuing this work and sharing more along the way.

As we enter the second half of the semester, we will be highlighting one of our IILE Student Ambassadorâs experiences studying away at @bardnyc â¨
Hi everyone! My name is Maksym Panchokha, and Iâm a junior at Bard College double majoring in Economics and Global & International Studies. Iâm also a Student Ambassador with Bard Abroad. Outside of academics, I enjoy hiking, swimming, lifting, cycling, and going to the theatre.
Iâm originally from Ukraine, and this semester Iâm studying away at Bard NYC. I chose Bard NYC to be in the middle of a city where global economics, policy, and culture arenât just studiedâtheyâre happening in real time.
So far, my semester has already been packed: Iâve visited MoMA and the Morgan Library & Museum, attended a performance at the Met Opera, andâunexpectedlyâmade it through two very cold NYC blizzards.
If youâre ever in New York, I highly recommend Veselkaâtheir pierogies are genuinely worth it.
Iâm especially excited for the weather to warm up so I can have picnics in Central Park and enjoy NYC in full bloom.
Looking forward to sharing more of my experience! Stay tuned!
Another great night of connection, networking, and professional development at @bardnyc with @slugoesglobal ! đ¤ Check out this highlight reel from our Social Media Coordinator capturing some great moments from the evening! đĽâ¨
